Wilson Kaos 1.5

I believe Foot Doctor Zach has a recorded livestream on his channel that goes over Kaos. I remember him saying that the outsole with the straight grooves is apparently a major turn off and is not good.

Thanks, though I couldn't find it.

I found the link. There’s a section for the Wilson Kaos!

Thanks! He says that the shoes are dangerous. Part of me wishes he had a full review of them though. I'd never heard that before regarding traction.

I still wish there were a review of this. I've seen a very positive review of the clay version on YouTube (unfortunately, it's not available in North America).

I tried the SFT version but never played in them.
I went half a size up from Asics and they were still a little snug.

The deal breaker for me was that the upper is quite flexible and the lacing system isn’t good enough to hold your foot in place. Just walking around the house my foot was able to jam into the end of the shoe.

Thanks for this reply. What's interesting to me about the shoe is that design manager says that this is the shoe for baseliners as opposed to the Rush Pro 4.0, which he says isn't necessarily for baseliners. I like that Wilson is trying, but I just don't think they're there yet.

"ANTOINE: Unlike Rush Pro, Kaos actually targets those baseline players. Kaos tennis shoes are designed for players who move back and forth, side to side, on the baseline. They engage more speed because these players are faster and have to run a lot.

That is the fundamental difference between Rush Pro and Kaos: Rush Pro is for players who move forward and charge the net while Kaos is for players who stay on the baseline and run mostly side to side. That is why there is such a difference in the look and feel of these two performance tennis shoes."

"ANTOINE: Rush Pro 4.0 is designed for a player who wants to control the game. One who is very engaged on the court.

This player wants to dominate. They have a lot of power, especially in their legs. They can anchor strongly into the ground and burst forward. This is not necessarily for the player who is going to stay at the baseline for the whole game. The shoe is designed to move forward to the net, to finish the game quickly. These players are tactical and have excellent footwork and good strength."

I wear the Kaos Swift 1.5 Clay - it's a fantastic shoe that provides a great mix of traction, speed, and comfort. I mostly play on synthetic grass courts in the UK so I am often runnning on wet conditions. I never feel slippy, and shoes provide full confidence for my best tennis.

One note: Foot Doctor Zach's review above is referring to the Kaos Swift all-court version, which has a straight pattern that is the object of his criticism. The clay version has a more conventional herringbone pattern that has never caused me any issues.

One more note: the Kaos Swift 1.5 is a significant improvement over the previous generation. I wore the first generation of Kaos Swift, and it barely lasted 3-4 months. The soles wore down dramatically (one side literally was peeling off), and the front mesh ripped quite quickly. The 1.5 is far more comfortable, and it seems that Wilson has fixed the issues regarding the fragile mesh and sole. I have a slightly wide forefoot that caused discomfort with the previous generation but no problems with the 1.5.

Tennis Guy on youtube has a very positive review of the shoe.

Thanks for sharing! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the clay version is available in North America.
