Wilson Steam 99S and 105S which one has more topspin?

Does anyone know/has experience if the Wilson Steam 99S or the Steam 105S rackets generates more topspin?

According to tenniswarehouse, it seems the 99S has 98 topspin score while the 105S has only 88. How can this be, the 105S has bigger head and is longer while they both have Spin Effect technology?

Sounds wrong to me - 105S - same # of strings therefore more open pattern and longer lever than the 99S.

TW Staff if you're reading this can you comment?

You have to remember 105 was reviewed mostly by female (flat hitters) testers while 99 was reviewed by strong male players at TT.

As said before, these racquets are not for flat hitters. They are not going to give this racquet high marks.

The spin on 105 is phenomenal.

Thought so, that 105S should in theory has more spin potential.
That's why I went ahead to order my 105S before even posting this question.
I hope the 105S will go well with Solinco Tour Bite Soft 17, and I strung my racket at 59lbs.
Can't wait to test it.

I own both and I am a relatively flat hitter with a minimal amount of spin on my natural shot. In my experience the 105 has far far more spin then the 99s. Most people will call the 105s a rocket-launcher that cannot be controlled, but I find the perfect amount of power and spin with the 105s, so much so that I am going to sell my 99s on an auction site.

Thanks again for the confirmation that 105S has more spin potential. (I was initially worried it has less than that compare to 99S).

Also, I was initially worried the 105S will have too much power (and thus lack of control), but my current racket is a APD, and before that a monster 125 sq inch Wilson Hammer super oversize, so I have experience with power racket. Hopefully the control won't be unmanagable (but I already bought the 105S so I guess too late hehe)

And, I am hoping the extra length of the 105S can increase my flat serve % and more pop - since I am a short guy. (I am learning flat serve, as my usual serve is spin.)

I hope also (hoping too much) that the 105S will be less stiff than my APD, so thus better for my one handed backend (I heard less stiff is better for one handed backhand, but don't really know why?) More easy to create angle?

I have a 1hbh and love this frame for that shot.

I will tell you this experience and take it for what it is worth, my doubles partner has played for 3+ years with the APD and has the one from last year with the 3d graphics and the darker look. He bought the 99s and stung it the exact same as his ADP, 60lbs with RPM Blast. His words are that the 99s has "no power but a nice soft feel" I recommended that he drop his tension to 50 pounds on the 99s to see the power gain so he is the process of that. He thinks the 99s feels softer then his APD, so I bet you will feel the same about the 105s.

Now I felt a similar lack of power, but I am not a swing for the fences kind of player. My partner does swing for the fence every time and plays with a lot of topspin naturally, but for both of our games we both felt the 99s was low powered......I find the 105s to be right on with what I like. I am strung at 54 pounds with MSV Focus Hex Soft in the 105s (52# with MSV Co-Focus in the 99s) and love the power and feel.

From what I have seen and gathered, the 105s will be very similar in power to the ADP with more topspin, thus more control and confidence.

As far as the serve, I don't have a height problem at 6'4" like you describe, but I am a mostly flat server and I love this frame on the serve. More power then the 99s as expected and more then my Organix7/lite as well. The headlight helps to get the head through the hitting zone quickly in my experience and generates good headspeed for that flat serve. It is not the hardest serving frame I have played, my old EZone XI100 and RDIS200 felt like harder serving frames, but the 105s feels very close in power, and the added spin when needed is a very nice addition on the serve which was not as easy to generate with the Yonex frames for me.

Hope this helps.
