I was wondering, if Rafa decides to go one step further in his testing and plays on Monday but then withdraws, what are the consequences? I mean would anything happen differently than it would have if he had withdrawn before the tournament?

I hope that makes sense.

I hope that makes sense.

If he plays one minute, his opponent will win by retirement and book a place in the second round.

Federer has a tough draw. Djokovic on the other hand has a pretty smooth ride to the semis.

Which players make his draw "tough"?
Fed's draw:
Lu R1
Calleri R2
Kohlschreiber R3
Soderling R4
Verdasco QF
Djokovic semis

And we don't even know if Nole 'll make it that far.

Got to agree with you. I'm well chuffed with it. Gulbis in R2 though.....

hey, that's assuming Gulbis can even manage to make R2 ;)

I wouldn't be too worried for Andy, it'd take Gulbis catching fire so furiously that the roof starts to melt to cause him problems imo.

In fact I think his R2 and R3 possibilities are perfect, they might not be walkovers but they should be easy enough and get him in the right mood, whilst being entertaining watching for us ^^

Feds draw might actually be the trickiest of the big 4 this time out, theres quite a few difficult opponents dotted in there who could be real dangers on their day.

Man do you edit alot. Hes got Karlovic, Tsonga, Soderling and even Kholschreiber could be difficult.

First, Verdasco won't make it, it'll either be Tsonga or Karlovic I think and they are both tough. Soderling is a tough player especially because he can hold serve pretty easily on grass. Kohlschreiber is in good form and a good grasscourt player. He made the finals at Halle last year and semis this year. Lu is a dangerous guy to play if you haven't played a grass match since july last year. It's not a really difficult draw, but it's not easy either. If Novak doesn't make semis, Juan Martin will and he's tough too.

I think you mean Tommy Haas rawr!

==

Feds draw is made tough by

Kohlschreiber
Soderling
Verdasco/Tsonga/Karlovic
Semi

that's not an easy path by any means

==

I know but as difficult as you make it sound.Btw Tsong 'd have to go through
R3: Haas
R4: Del Potro
QF: Djokovic
SF: Federer
So i don't see him meeting Fed here.

Tsonga is in Verdascos section of the draw...and in Feds 1/4...

This is not true. Tsonga is in Verdasco's quarter, playin Karlovic third round possibly.

You mean quarters. But yeah he will most likely not have to face Tsonga or Roddick. Looks good for Novak.

Well, assuming they get to Qfs, then whoever got DelPo has the most work.

Roger has it tough before that, that's true, although Tsonga's not that good these days.

I was being a wee bit tongue in cheek Shadows - given some of the coverage young ernests 'the kid (baby GOAT)' gets on here ;)

Baghdatis is out!!! what the heck??!:-?
wow... could we believe in miracles ?

it's wimbledon... so maybe he thought about the possibility of several straight rainy days or weeks allowing him to recover before his 1st match ?

kohlschreiber is good on grass but i dont think he can win against fed in a five-setter also soderling

I would say biggest opponent in his 1/4 would be karlovic and I don't now how verdasco plays on grass

but after all i'm not worrid for roger i dont think he would change with any other from the top four
