So thats what Ben Shelton is playing.
Any body did already tested the Strike i nmains and the pro in the crosses?
I have the Auxetic Extreme Tour racket and would like to check it out. I bought some sets of Poly Tor Pro yellow in 1.25mm and now i read that these strings are soft and loose theit playablty after 2 hours. I have a stringing machine but 2 hours are nothing.
I could buy a reel of the PTStrike 1,20mm for 80Euros, Is it worth to put these in the mains with the 1.25mm Pros in the crosses?

Yes, its a nice setup and I've used it when I was using the Ezone back when the Strike just released. Its especially good for high level juniors and strong rec players as it offers good pocketing while holding tension. Go with 1.25mm and string around 22~24kg.

I currently play this hybrid in my Ezone 98, best setup so far if you like a slightly crisp feel. Plenty of control and I don't play any strings for more than 8 hours, but at 8 hours mark, I didn't notice any significant drop in performance.

I ordered some strike, going to try it out with PTP cross. Tour Bite/PTP is great. So is PTP/Hawk Touch in ez98

Is it a good idea to mix the Strike in 1.20nn gauge in mains with PTPro in 1,25mm gauge in crosses?
Is it beneficial in some aspects, like more comfort or power? I need the comfort anyway cause my wrist and shoulder are very sensitive if strings are to stiff.

That’s a good question, was kind of wondering the same thing about using a thicker diameter cross compared to the main. I know people on here advise doing the opposite, using a thinner cross. And I’ve read not to exceed the .05 difference. The difference in gauge contributes to a higher launch angle but I’m not sure if that’s just when the main is larger than the cross or if the same concept applies when the crosses are larger.

I have played with 1.15 tour bite main and 1.2 PTP and really have loved it.

For my strike/PTP experiment I think I’m going to do 1.25 strike with 1.2 PTP first and then try 1.2 strike/1.2 PTP

My experience with PTP(yellow) was 1.25 and 1.20 plays somehow different in full bed. I found 1.25 full bed is more comfortable and more pocketing compared to 1.20, it could be just in my head.

But when I use them as crosses, there is not much difference.

I also tried PT strike/PT fire hybrid, it was also very good. More responsive and slightly stiffer string bed. Personally, I prefer the PTP cross, it provides more comfort and better pocketing.

Agree 100% definitely like 1.25 in full bed the most.

Anyone can comment on the spin and arm-friendliness of PTS/PTP hybrid compared to full-bed of PTS ?

Thanks,
JZ

Tried it and prefer full bed of Strike.. really didn’t notice any performance benefit with PTP in the crosses, and Strike isn’t all that harsh to begin with. Strung 46/44 in a 100D. Haven’t been a fan of anything muted or soft in the percept so that definitely influences my opinion.
