Yonex Vcore Pro vs Vcore

I demoed 4 racquets today, the Vcore pro HD, the Ezone 98, Clash 100, and the Vcore Pro 97 310. So far I like the Vcore core pro 97. It felt comfortable and user friendly. It was telling me to hit harder and give it top spin. The others were so so. I was too erratic with the Clash and the Ezone. The VC pro HD was nice but didn’t do anything for me. It played soft, nice volleys though.

My question is what is the difference between the VCore pro and the regular VCore? I didn’t get a chance to demo those.

FYI I am a 57 yo , upper 4.0 club player mainly doubles, with elbow issues. I have been playing with a Volkl V Sense 8 w gut due to the arm.

if I got the VCore pro 310 any recommendations on an arm friendly string? Gut? Hyper G soft

the regular vcore might be worth a try.
the vcore pro is a player's racquet. if you have arm issues, likely better to get the vcore. try the 98/100

Agree with @ichaseballs here. The Vcore line is a bit softer and more muted but still good power and spin. The PROs usually have a more connected feel, are a bit stiffer and have more power afaik.

As for string with are issues i’d start with an hybrid between your fav poly in the mains and some multi in the crosses. Or Gut that is :)

Long time older vcore player here, doubs only as well. the vcore pro line has a thinner cross section, hence less free power. Def. give the reg. vcore line a try.

I have a Clash 100 that I like to futz around with too. It is similar to the reg. vcore line, but is not QUITE as spin friendly and has even more
free power. No arm problems with it. Gotta string it up tight or you will hit a lot of balls long.

I am the same age and skill level as you, and have tried all of the racquets you mentioned above. I too liked the VCore Pro 97 (310) the best, and bought one last summer, and strung up it with a gut-poly hybrid. Very good racquet. As a favor, I sold it to a colleague at work, for substantially less than what I paid.

I bought the 310 pro 97 and had it strung with Technifiber X one biphasic at 55#.
I am a little disappointed that it doesn’t hit like the demo.
it hits springy. I like a solid thump.
is my tension too loose?

Had both for long periods. The Vcore Pro 97 has a great feel, but doesn't give you anything free. The Vcore 98 is a bit stiffer, but helps in power and spin, but it can be more erratic than the PRO 97. If i had to choose one of them to play with, i would go with the Vcore 98, since it is a bit more forgiving and can help you on those days you are not on the best shape.

Congrats on your new purchase! Regarding stringing, 55 pounds might be on the high side for that particular frame, but I understand what you mean about a demo feeling different than the purchased racquet. I am running into the same thing with other racquets (sigh). Maybe try the exact same string and tension as the demo.

True. Some places use the same string and tension on all their demos ( within the tension range). I belonged to one club that used Wilson Sensation in all their demo racquets mid tension range.

You put one of the softest and most powerful strings in a full bed what did you expect? What was the demo strung with?

Don’t know on the demo
what arm friendly string would you guys recommend that’s not too springy?

I have been playing VS touch gut. I tried the vs /rpm blast hybrid but didn’t like it on my Volkl

Agree except the VC95, that one is definitely the lowest power of all the Vcore and Vcore Pros.
It's my current frame. Leaded in the hoop (12, 9 & 3) and counter balanced in the handle, @ 346 grams. The sw must be around 335-340. I need to use pretty stiff and low powered polys so that the ball won't fly on me.

Well, I was talking about the current lines. The Tour G was around, what, ten years ago? :) The Vcore Pro HD, for instance, has an RA of 59. The other models indeed a bit higher.
no not 10 years ago! maybe 5. its the model after the vcore duel which is still used on atp by this Korean and american players. If we care for our envirement than we should not buy every year new stuff when the current stuff cant really be outdated nor too worn.

Okay, it was seven years ago, released in 2014. :)

I have been playing with Yonex R22 as my ever best of all Yonex racquets, should I go fir VCore or VCore pro?

Why not just stay with the R22 if you are playing well with it? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Stay away from going down that rabbit hole if you can help it. I used one racquet type for 14 years. I could not find any more of those racquets so I had to start my endless search, or it seems.

The problem is that my Yonex R22 is 1984 purchase, therefore 38 years old, difficult to string because the grommets are gone, fantastic racquet though. I m still playing with it.
