your opinion of Federer

What do you all think of him? not as a player, but as a character. i mean like, what do you think of his attitude?
i know some peeps that think he's a total champ but others that dont like him at all....

I used to be a BIG fed fan but for some reason, during that match where he loses to Nadal and he cries [think it was last year or the year before, or before that? i think it was at the AUS open but i cant remember which one...]..anyways since then i never thought about him the same again

My opinion sort of changed from that point on and I never really cared about Federer again!

its not that I hate him for 'crying' or being a 'sore loser' as some people may think. its just that, its like i dont have an opinion of him AT ALL anymore. whatabout the rest of you? did your opinion of him also change from that point onwards? or from some other point onwards? or have you always liked him and still do? or always not liked him? woulda love to hear some thoughts...

I actually began to like Federer after he cried in the Australian Open. While many believe that is portrays a lack of sportsmanship, I, on the other hand, believe it indicates his love of the game. It proves that he still cares about the game, and he still wants to win.

ok thats true, i can see that. but somehow i still find it INCREDIBILY UNUSUAL for a man, who is supposed to be mature at the age that he was... to CRY after he lost ONE game. i cant believe ONE game can mean SO MUCH to him that he CRIES on INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION. I mean, he has so much money, trophies, success. why is he so upset, maybe he just got emotional in the moment/heat of it all......i guess he REALLY set his goals extremely high that time around and came out being disappointed....

Probably why he has 16 more slams than yourself, no?

Personally I hated his guts since he pulverised Henman at Wimbo 06. That was just rude.

He is a very cool classy guy but this year was unimpressive after the AO. Think his reign is coming to an end in the next few years :( no more nadal federer matches :(

I agree, it humanises him in an otherwise brutal, soul-destroying and death-defying sport, I'm glad i'm watching humans play rather than robots

I've seen politicians and world leaders cry, why is it no different for them?! Sports personalities, movie stars whoever they are, it would be unusual if they didn't at some point.

When I pay good money to see a match, I want the player to turn up, and not get injured, wear the wrong shirt, wrong contact lenses, go walkabout...

So Hewitt and Federer are fine in my books

So you are saying Men Can't cry...it not like you are going to lose your status as a man. It the same thing with Females can't play physical sports...but they damm can....just like men can cry.

You should study some sociology...your being pulled into the makeup of the media!

I heard they all cry. They just happen to be able to hold it together till the dressing room.
It hurt Fed too much and he couldn't hold it in. H e kept the tears at bay at the Wimby before.
Someone said Nadal cried in the locker room after Wimby 08.

I love to watch his tennis, some of the best tennis I personally have watched!

Him as a person disgusts me, he thinks he is better than everyone, he talks a lot of crap, he reminds me of the kid that got beat up a lot in school, he is a cry baby, he thinks the world revolves around him, etc

He does good things. Buys ballpeople pizza, donates to some good causes.
Appreciates the past greats.
Even calls some local college kids to practice with, what a thrill for those lucky ones!!

Doesn't seem mean enough to win all those slams, he must have an attitude somewhere undercover.
