Expectations?
The only reason I"m going to Arroyo Park is because my windsurf site is closed for the weekend, as there is a Kite Fest there, which takes 3,000 parking spaces for 15,000 people looking at kites that just sit there in the sky.
I'm very excited about the new Tabou Speedster 100, 2017 Gaastra 6.7 Cosmic, and 2015 Gaastra 5.5 Manic, 2014 Naish 5.8 Gran Prix, and two of the new Tetonics 32 and 36 Phoenix TWO HUNDRED AND FIXTY dollar fins.

Should be fun.
I hope somebody there is going to be on their games. Looks like Papa, Shroud, and Volynets is off their games currently.
I just got some new windsurfing gear, so my mind is scattered more in that direction getting the tuning and settings down.
Yaz is usually pretty on. Don't think Matt has been playing and he's off to his A Capella group in Davenport by 2PM or so.

My sources tell me that Shroud and the YOUNG ONE are going to be filming on one court each
Yep looking forward to playing better than last time but leed is right. Only played 2wice in the last 2 months! Though i played a set last week.

We never set a meetup place or time.
I'm aiming to be on the corner of Shattuck and Racine, if they intersect, at 9:30 AM on Sat. Driving a gray VW GTI with roof racks and radio blaring.

He was at the level at which all people like him and me end up at a certain age. We hit, then played points. He was as good and as bad as me. That is why no words were exchanged. It is assumed that when a guy shows up with a tennis bag at a public court on Memorial Day instead of being with his family, on some camping trip, or partying with his friends, he must be a special kind of guy. Two such guys don't need to say anything to each other.
that's deep, man

Racine is parallel to Shattuck. Just sent you a message on the conversation. Let me know what time you plan to be here.

This has to be one of the most incomprehensible posts ever on TT, but i'm sure there is some master plan behind it. It only adds up to the expectations..

Twas fun, not too long a drive, and everyone was cool.
Met up with one of the old timer's from the '70's, a 14 year old then, now a 6'3" x 220lbs monster and former ATP 445. I used to hit with his older brother by 2 years, in the late '70's.
Gotta do it again.

I was on a winning set with Matt, who was on fire with huge first serves.
Then I lost a 10 point tiebreaker against Matt and Shroud, letting down my partner Andre'.
Had to face Matt's new big serve, which is maybe 10mph faster than his best 2 year's ago.
Vitamin L also has an interesting lefty serve, something I hardly ever get to face at 4.0 levels. I would not want to be on the receiving end when he decides to hit flat first serves.

Who were the winners and losers? And don't give me the line that everyone was a winner.
Papa Mango and Raj teamed up to beat me and Volleynets 8-6 I think. Not sure about Yaz's matches but they were crushin the ball!!

It was great fun and so glad we got to do it.

Raj was brave enough to try my racket and crushed a monster FH with it!

Yaz was playing with the 4.5 crowd, like Matt was as we drove up.
One of the 4.5's is a former ATP #445, but he's now 55. I used to practice with his older brother, by 2 year's, back in the '70's.

Back in the 70s there were 500 people in ATP total :p.

Hard for a video to take 1-3 shot points, which is what was happenning all around.
I know doubles is supposed to be shorter points than singles, but today was really short. I told Matt I was going to miss my first 3 shots, after I warmed up, sat for 45 minute while everyone else played, then walked in over my head with two hard hitting 4.0's and Matt, who was on his game A brief wacky 3 minute warmup again, as the 3 other guys were under 24 and didn't like waiting for an old fart. I missed more than 3 shots.

I practiced with Ivy Madondo today. I'm using a poly/poly hybrid now: big ace micro mains, and l=tec 4s crosses, with varied tensions. The last shot I hit, was screamed about by the doubles team down there, as Ivy had a fh sitter, and drilled it at me about 20' away, and I blocked it bh volley, and he had another sitter, shorter, and did the same, but this time, I blasted a snap back bh volley heavy angle cc, at about 90 mph, compared to his fh speed which was about the same, and the whole team erupted, and I let out a couple of whoops myself. I could feel in his body, where he was going to place it, how hard it was going to be hit, and split stepped to the right spot to take it without moving my frame much at all. Shot of the year. My fifth practice this week with 4.5 and higher guys. Shoulder hurts, left foot, back, and ankle. Elbow flared until I worked the green flex bar.

I hit with Matt last week and yesterday evening. What a difference a few years makes. All school and no play has made Matt a rusty player! :) He's going to be living in NorCal starting next week so the San Pablo tennis gang will have fun working him over. He's out of shape and his timing is off. :D

Yeah he told us he has moved there with a great job. The company will squeeze him so bad that his tennis will decline fast. Then you old guys can have your revenge. Cycle of life!

Work does that to everyone.
When I played Volynets, he was out of shape and hadn't played in a couple of weeks, and for the past year, maybe once a month at most.
Wait till they hit 62, and see how they play.

Computer Science programs at good schools are absolutely brutal and they prepare you for the working world. They don't pay you a lot of money and give you a lot of perks like free meals, drinks, etc. for nothing - they expect you to work like a slave for a while.

Sounds like most jobs I've had, little pay, lots of hours, more expectations at crunch time, and free pizza and drinks.

If you can find a friend that works at Google, ask them to invite you to lunch at the Google Cafeteria. Go hungry. You can put on a lot of weight there.

Most jobs I've had, except for driving a taxi in San Francisco, supplied pizza and beers on Fri and Sats. That goes for warehouse jobs and mostly for sales jobs at sporting good stores. Getting fast wasn't the point of working.

How about you pick meats out of windowed refrigerated storage and have the chef cook to order, lots of salad greens, desert, breads, cookies and whatever the theme of the day is. The Google facility that I went to had a big room with this huge bar and barista in it. I guess that's for afternoon break. One of the Google facilities has free solar-powered recharging for your Tesla.

I guess that's why you got yourself up to 220 lbs., you let food get to your desires.
Me, I weighed no more than 135 until the age of 35, then ballooned up to an average of 150 for the year. Now at 158, I'll be down to around 145 by mid Oct., as my windsurfing season is just coming on for another 3 months.

OTOH, don't hold me to it. My g/f seems to weigh around what I do, so getting lighter might not be in the cards. I still need to open jars for her, but she's actually quite a bit stronger than me, and 22 year's my junior.

Max was 245.

Lots of stress and one way to relieve it was food. Down to 177 right now (after 170 a while ago) with a target of 165-170.

There are other perks like stock options too.
