The "ULTIMATE" Synthetic gut string ?

Assuming you mean solid-core, single wrap synthetic, then Gosen's OG Sheep Micro Super JC--Jim Courier's string--would qualify. A close second would have to be Prince's Original Synthetic Gut.

If cheap is your criteria, then another one to consider is Prince Synthetic Gut with Duraflex (aka PSGD).

It's more expensive than the others.
But Gamma Prodigy is my favorite solid core synthetic.

How does the "JC- Jim Courier" differ from Gosen OG Sheep Micro??

Most people seem to prefer Prince Synthetic Gut Original or with Duraflex, and Gosen OG Shepp Micro.

The JC Gosen just seems crisper IMHO It does cost a little more. I don't think that there is any ultimate in what is a commodity level string.
The Head,Wilson,Prince,Gamma's, constructed of Nylon66 with a couple of wraps of an aramid fiber, for increased string life, all then to play pretty much the same.
If you find one in your gauge on sale, BUY IT.

I've read great things about LaserFibre's Classic syn gut. It's supposed to play like a quality multi, but with way more durability. Maybe, the ultimate syn gut.

I believe the OG Sheep micro is a monofilament and is stiffer than the JC synthetic. The Super Micro and the JC are traditional solid core synthetics. Gosen doesn't do a very good job explaining those differences.

I use a lot of Babolat Conquest and its a very smooth string with lots of feel and pop. I suspect its very similar to Prince synthetic original. I just recently played with PSw/D it played very well.

The Ashaway synthetic gut is a lot like the OG sheep micro-it is a monofilament that is stiffer than the traditional synthetic guts.

It doesn't look like a monofilament string, judging from its packaging pic below:

But I have a reel of the OG sheep micro and it says its a monofilament.
I'm looking at the same reel of OG Sheep Micro and here's what it says on the back:

Material Composition:
  • Super Strength Nylon Monofilament
  • Special Nylon Coating
The monofilament mentioned in the list is the same solid core found in synthetic gut.

Kind of confusing.
Yeah, Gosen is not really known for precise description of their own lineup.

Thanks.

I guess the terms monofilament and solid core mean the same thing?

Gosen also uses terms like spin or control on different strings to define what looks like the same string.

But I have to say the Gosen "monofilament" seems stiffer that other solid cores-the same with the Ashaway synthetic gut.
