Dimitrov Racquet experimentation

Aside from working on simplifying his service motion that conjures up more breaks of serve than clutch serves; I wonder what Dimitrov's intent was in changing racquets initially and if he gave up on this process prematurely. Federer's racquet change did little for him initially, exchanging shanks for unforced errors, it wasn't until he began to flatten out the backhand that the true potential of his bigger frame came to fruition. I am curious If Dimitrov glossed over adjusting his topspin heavy technique with an addendum of more aggressive shots with his 'old/experimental' racquet. Additionally I am curious if an ATP pro receives no added benefit from changing form a 93 to 95 inch frame hence why he made the leap to 97/98 a la Federer. I would be curious what Dimitrov would do with a 95 inch frame and a stronger inclination to hit over the top of the ball.

What he needs to change is his ridiculous service motion, where he always lands and lean towards his left side, and what's in his head. Did you see his shot selections?

Yes, his rise on his serve from the ground up sometimes looks like a snake, almost like he jumps in one direction than arches his back to correct his trajectory as he takes the racquet back and makes contact. He can rip the ball sometimes, especially on the backhand cross court. I wish he considered a more aggressive style.

He does play an already pretty aggressive style. What he lacks is self control.

If you're as far back as the Melbourne side and you're stretched to the alley, SURE, go for a down the line backhand winner. Because, reasons.

What do you think, should he hit over the top more? Flatten it out? and work on his net game?

I'd say enough with the slice backhand. Hit that topper, buddy!

He hit some beautiful toppers against Kyrgios. Maybe he watched Fed vs Gasquet, summit of 1hbh. The problem is that he seems can’t mix tops w/ slices for more variety and whenever the point matters he just stands 3m behind baseline and slicing. Murray-style with only slice backhands is not enough for a grand slam, for now at least.

Roger Rasheed forced him to change when he was being coached by Rasheed because Rasheed thought the small racquet head size was putting him at a disaadvantage
