Got my second one today from a local tennis shop, probably the only place to look for these beauties!

Yeah. Have a suspicion that the new vcore 98 with a lower flex may satisfy some of the dr98 users..If the manufacturer knows a particular model is doing well, which they should, why would they not run the production a little longer? It's a win-win for them and the consumers, no? Just got myself another one. Now it's really extinct.
The New vcore pro is even more stiff than dyel gYeah. Have a suspicion that the new vcore 98 with a lower flex may satisfy some of the dr98 users..

I just got two new DR 98's from a local tennis shop. and luckily they had my grip size 1/8. $130 a piece.
I'm going to try YPTP 1.20 at 45 lbs and Hyper G 1.20 at 45 lbs.
What are some good set-ups for this racket?
Go for YPTP, should be softer than hyperg . I have always used alu power @ 54.I just got two new DR 98's from a local tennis shop. and luckily they had my grip size 1/8. $130 a piece.
I'm going to try YPTP 1.20 at 45 lbs and Hyper G 1.20 at 45 lbs.

I tried YPTP 1.20 at 45 lbs, too much launch angle on slice backhand and other shots requiring finesse, unplayable for me. Strung up Hyper-G at 56 lbs and it's definitely a bit stiffer than YPTP, seems to be more spin potential however I would like to try YPTP again at 55 lbs before I decide whether I dislike the string or not.
Guess string setup is very personal. I have Silverstring at 48/45 (probably will go down the next string job) Cyclone 1.20 and Mosquito Bite both full bed at 45/42.
Probably a good idea as comparing YPTP@45 and Hyper-G@56 would not be a fair comparison... YPTP@ 52 or 53 worked well for me.
I was going to string both at 45 and after struggling with the YPTP I decided to string Hyper-G tighter. I'm gonna try YPTP at 55-56 lbs next time.
I really want to like YPTP because I can get a reel for $85.
Try yptp at 52lbs, 56 is way to high for dr especially with hyper gI tried YPTP 1.20 at 45 lbs, too much launch angle on slice backhand and other shots requiring finesse, unplayable for me. Kyrgios isnt playing the dr and he is also a pro. For my level 4.5-5.0 all court player 50 or 52 is OK, if i go higher i loose power, smaller sweet spot and less arm friendly but offcourse doesnt work for everyone, its a new racket give her some timeIt's playing fine for me at 56 lbs. Not too powerful or too tight. I want to try YPTP at 55 lbs (Kyrgios i think strings at this tension)
Low tensions i struggle with returning serve (I block, chip a lot of returns) and slice backhands. The slice doesn't have the topspin to bring it down into the court at low tensions
I also like cyclone at 47-48,yptp is softer therefore higher tension especially during the summerMan you guys string high! In the dr I use cyclone and start around 47.

For the record he always played xi98 not dr. 51,52 is great just give some time to get used of the racketWhen kyrgios had a DR 98 he used 55 lbs YPTP 1.20, according to the BB&T atlanta open in 2016. I could probably get away with 51 or 52 lbs but i dont want to take any chances and waste money. 45 lbs for me was unplayable.
Update. I tried YPTP 1.20 at 55 lbs, and like it much better. Slice backhand & returns aren't floating. I did notice a lot smaller sweetspot and less spin compared to 45lbs but much more control.
For some odd reason with YPTP i seem to serve much better than normal. I can hit a lot more aces for some reason. Even at 45 lbs the serving was really good. Anyone else notice this?
I hope YPTP can be my string of choice as its super cheap and very soft on the arm.
I could probably get away with 50-51 lbs.
I'm liking the control of YPTP 1.20 at 55 lbs, however I would like a slightly bigger sweetspot. Any suggestions?
I will try lowering the tension to 52 lbs. ThanksFirstly which way do you want to increase the sweet spot? Higher towards the top of the hoop add weight at 12 o'clock; for a wider sweet spot add weight at 3 & 9 o'clock.
IMO, either lower the tension to 53 or 52 lbs or place some tungsten tape at 3 & 9 o'clock with the same tension (55 lbs). Of course, if you use tungsten tape on the hoop then I would balance it with some tungsten tape at 7" above butt cap.
Lowering the tension (control should still be there) will give you a larger sweet spot as it will allow for more ball pocketing, amongst other things, while the other option increases the sweet spot but keeps your initial tension (and increases stability).
Not a fan of either string, preffer slightly softer Cyclone in DR98 in that string category....but 1.20 guage could work if you don't pop the strings fast.
But whatever strings you use I'd highly recommend either Sergetti or proportional stringing method:
just add a few lbs on the last few crosses because of wide spacing
Is this the Sergetti table specifically for the DR98? What string does this table apply to, can I use full bed of poly or gut/poly?
No, this is straight proportional, no other factors.
Meaning if 1st main is 52lbs and lengh X, and 8th main is X/2 we will string it at 26lbs.
You can add on more factors from there. For example, DR98 has big spacing on lower crosses, so I recomment increasing a few lbs 16,17,18 and 19th crosses (could use use 48, 46, 44,42 instead)
Seems inexact, but remember, you will still get much sweeter stringjob than just flat tension one.
Bums me the DR98 Blues got discontinued before I could snag a couple more
Or maybe more stiffer if i judge from the new ezone compare to dr, i already found a Better alternative for my game in Prince frame and switch from the dr98 but i kept one just in case...I bet (and hope) that the next iteration of the exone 98 is similar to the DR. Looks like Yonex is making their new frames more flexible. Thank goodness. Wish we could all find more DRs, but hopeful that Yonex will give us what we want on the next iteration.
I had a few lime ones but one of them cracked. I was lucky enough to pick up a Blue one so I'll give it a test tonight and see how it plays against the lime and report back
If a stick strung and play many times becomes softer as for the maneuverability you should measure both rackets sw to test properly and offcourse both rackets should have been strung the same hour. I find no difference between lime and blueSo I ended up having a hit last night - comparing both the lime and blue rackets.
Both had the same string setup and tension. Both also had the same balance and weight.
I found that there is a difference. The blue had a more muted feel and the green had more of a pop as said by other members here. It perhaps may be a bit softer and feels like a tad more like the AI of previous generations but without the 'downsides'. Switching between rackets, the first few shots I hit was noticeable, but then I forgot about it.
In terms of playing performance, I found no difference. Both seemed to play the same - spin, power and control wise. My hitting partner noted that there was no difference - or if there was, it was subtle. I did feel that the Blue one swung faster than the Green - but that could just be down to mentality than anything else.
I am certain they changed the make up/composition of the racket. Time will tell. I would like to have a few more green ones, but I won't be too strung up on it since it is from the same line, same weight, balance and strings.
My DR 98 (lime green) is literally longer than my 27.25 inch Wilson Burn. That Burn is longer than my other 27 inch racket too, so the DR 98 is literally like 27.5 inches for me wtf https://screenshot.net/x4peeip suppose are bith 27 inc but they are not!!
Unfortunately there is no good quality controlYeah, what the hell? Either we got some really messed up rackets or the advertised specs are a bit off in the length department.

I think dr 98+ is only the blue editionYou sure this isn’t a Dr98+ ?
100%. I know my rackets, and it's pretty hard even for someone who doesn't to mistake those two. I just measured and compared my DR 98 to my other 27 inch racket again and it's clearly around 0.25-0.30 inches longer. Around or a little longer than my Burn 95 CV which is 27.25.You sure this isn’t a Dr98+ ?
