Despite the incredible greatness of Kawhi Leonard, who is a top 3-5 player in this league, MVP/DPOY candidate and the best two-way perimeter player since Pippen, the remainder of the Raptors core continue to be walking choke hazards in big matches. Kyle Lowry, along with Demar, are honestly the two worst big game players I've ever seen in my life and the moment people actually play good defense on them, they can't buy a single shot. I wouldn't be surprised if the Raps traded Lowry at the deadline as they already got rid of one choker in DD and it's done them wonders so far
As for the Celtics, whenever I look at their roster, I'm constantly asking myself how this team isn't the runaway second favs for the title behind GSW. They literally have TWO starting lineups on their roster and Kyrie continues to prove himself of being one of the best closers the game has ever seen

Lol they were better last year with that DeRozan even though Siakam was just warming up, Ibaka was terrible, Vanfleet was not at this level and I can keep going on. What Kawhi brings to the team is very questionable if he's not winning any game at the clutch.

Lol if you can see how much of an upgrade Kawhi is to the Raps then idek what to say. Both Derozan and Lowry have literally been BENCHED in the PLAYOFFS before and other players/teams around the league actually view the Raptors as a legitimate threat now, which was never the case when DeFrozen (i mean derozan) was here. Leonard does pretty much everything better than Demar in the game of basketball. Kawhi shoots better, is way more efficient, plays DPOY caliber defense, has an elite scoring ability, is better rebounder, postseason performer and an MVP candidate.
As for the "other" players, Lowry stinks in big games, Miles sucks, Wright is average asf, so is Powell, Vanvleet is hella reckless, and JV and OG have been on the shelf more than they've been playing. This team has hardly been healthy this year but when they are later in the season, that's when you'll see how much better they are with Leonard instead of basketball's version of Verdasco in DD

The only reason they think Raps are/were a contender at the middle of first half is because LeBron is out of East and GSW sucked and had issues. Raps are second in the East thanks to Siakam and Ibaka. Kawhi is good but worse than last years DeRozan. He could not make a single game winner. He will just cruise the first round and leave in summer. Also Ujiri is a fool for not going right at Buldenhozer who is apparently a fantastic coach not to risk his job maybe. But he won't be around when you'd be willing to have the old Lowry still.

I think both Toronto and SA are better off from the trade. Unfortunately the unrelated injury to Murray has kept the Spurs from being a top 4 WC seed as we near the break. With the next 4 at home vs 3 non-playoff teams and BKN, they could be top 4 with skids by OKC and/or PTB.
The unmentioned asset in the trade has been steadily productive. Danny Green has played 49 of 51 games while Leonard continues to be babied (37 games) and he adds solid veteran leadership in his 29 minutes each night.

That's the Kawhi you remember from 2014 He is not the same player. Having better stats than teammates or DeRozan doesn't prove anything. Last years regular season DeRozan was better for the team play. Main reason for their 2nd position in the East is not Kawhi. He is a good player for sure but not that superstar anymore.

I saw him and Collins on The Jump and all were in agreement the trade validity really hinges on what ATL gets for the 1R pick this summer. With Dallas’ slide out of the playoffs race, advantage ATL. A win last night in The Clip Joint behind 26 points and 8 dimes brought Young’s season numbers to 16/3/7 so he’s not a flop on his own. ATL will most probably have two lottery picks in June and a nice tandem in Young and Collins. The Lin-Len bench duo is solid. Travis Schlenk learned his stuff well in GSW to pick them and Lloyd Pierce is a Process Server type of HC. Watch for Hawk Power in the next years.

It’s a joke to compare the trade after half a year. Doncic has a top 5 coach and actual nba players on his team. Young has one nba caliber player and a rookie head coach. Their situations aren’t even comparable. I think doncic will have a better career but one was obviously dealt a better hand for this year.

I don't think he thinks from the GM's standpoint but even so it's still a terrible trade. Of course one can say GM wouldn't know how good Luka was going to be but the kid had proven himself at 18 and they didn't do their homework well. Young is a defensive liability and he's shooting 29% from the arc with all the freedom he has. Draft pick they will get will probably a regular substitute in the long run.
