Felix Auger Aliassime

Huh are you sure? So he only lost to opponents that were ranked worse than top 20? Seems like a strange stat for someone who hasnt won an ATP tournament

I'm sure it's a statistical anomaly, but it's a nice little booster nonetheless.

Let's see if he can go 6-0 tomorrow.

He is younger, faster, and stronger than Djokodal at this point. Once he matures they don't stand a chance. Age is about to become very relevant for ********s.
I have yet to see him. Tell me more about him?can he challenge Djokovic in slams and give him some competition ?

He's the Mbappé of tennis.
You mean he's so smooth it's like he plays with gloves?

Since I'm a French Canadian from Montreal like Felix and I've seen him play since he was a kid, but I'm also a Fed fan, a Felix vs Fed final would create a "who do I root for" issue for me. But since I'm first and foremost a tennis fan, the answer would probably be "good tennis". :)
From Montreal as well...

Hoping for an All Canadian final, but I doubt Shapo can win against Fed.

I saw his qualifying match against Lorenzi and TBH wasn't overly impressed. I didn't see any great weapons and he made some typical unforced errors that the top players don't. He was definitely poised and composed though. Great to see him make a run. Hope he makes the Final.

I remember watching him live last year vs Medvedev at Rogers Cup. There was the way he moved that was "smooth" - not unlike a Djokovic, I enjoyed it.

Hopefully he doesn't let the pressure to get to him but I think him having to go the hard way has helped. The guy has had to paly qualifiers TWICE in the past two tournaments, and done quite well! Even in IW it was a grindfest, and he showed mental fortitude to get back after "messing up" and giving up MPs in the third. Even though he lost, I think that "loss" was almost more valuable... it showed him what not to do but also perhaps instilled some belief.

fedr has a tough matchup with Anderson though....not a guarantee he gets by him. FAA has a winnable matchup with Isner.

what tough matchup ?
Anderson hasn't even taken fed to a TB in their 5 matches apart from Wim 18 QF.
Wim 18 QF, Fed had some issues with his hand (as we would find out later) , still had MP to take it in straights.
half-decent Fed owns Anderson left right.

you don't even know anything about FAA and yet say Djokovic will have be favorite with very challenging him for favorite status over next 3 years ? :-D

You've got this all backwards. Anderson isn't usually a tough match up for Fed, Wimbledon collapse notwithstanding which Federer should've won anyway, and as good as FAA is playing I wouldn't call his match with Isner "winnable." That almost suggests that you think he should win, but Isner will be an incredibly tough out for Felix now that he has some momentum.

Right but Roger is so so Smart now. He saw that Felix will soon become top 50 guys so he invited Felix to Dubai to practice with him in winter time. So now he knows all the weaknesses and breakdowns of Felix. Roger knows felix now better than felix knows himself
But Felix also knows Roger. He also practiced with Kokkinakis, and tsitsipas

so you think he can upset Federer, one of the smartest players on tour and he is a teen player killer. Roger eats them for brunch
It's a different Roger. lest you forget his horrid match against Albot. RF almost lost to Coric last year's Masters. RF 2018+ is susceptible. But FAA still makes some teenager errors so sure RF should be the favorite.

i say winnable because FAA appears to be really good on return of serve.

also let's not act like federer didn't lose to ********** at this year's AO. he's 37.....not the same roger we have come to know and love.

that is different. Felix is young and naive so he won't learn as much as Federer is learing about Felix game. Federer is old and wise so he learns a lot more about felix than vice versa

And Even if Felix learns any theory, he isn't talented enough to implement it in practice. Learning or executing are two very different things.

can't blame them. Felix is very exciting player. and that new Pure Aero 2019 he is using with that neon color string is insane hot looking

After all of these years I'm surprised to see TT posters still don't understand matchups. Nadal's left handed forehand + slow courts --> anything but the most superlative OHBH --> easy win more often than not.

Thanks for that subtle insight that everyone would have otherwise missed. Do you coach at the ATP level ? You should consider contacting Muglos. I’m sure he’ll be looking for another Coach in a day or two.

Appears to be yes, but Isner will likely show us how good or bad he is on ROS in due time. And of course I'm aware of all Federer's recent losses. Does not really change my opinion that if I was handicapping the matches I would say Federer has a much greater chance of beating Anderson than FAA does Isner, and I would not say FAA has a "winnable" match against Isner because winnable sort of implies that you're favouring FAA, but I would call it 50/50 at best for FAA. If we disagree that is fine.

Too early to say if he can challenge Fedalovic. But his match against an in-form Coric was very impressive... most impressive performance of his I've seen yet. Unlike some of the other younger players, he doesn't have any noticeable weaknesses and his mental game is surprisingly strong. But best of all... he problem solves. He has more than just Plan A (Hit the Ball as Hard as I can from the Baseline and Hope for the Best). Of all the young players, I believe he has the most potential. But I also feel Djokovic will continue to be the favorite at slams for the foreseeable future.

Well, if he wins a slam/slams, he’ll be only the third male of African descent to do so. That would be a good thing for tennis viewership overall. Many see tennis as an elitist, white sport, which is true for the most part. Look what Tiger and Serena (even though I hate her attitude) did for the ratings in their respective sports.

He ought to ditch that Babolat toy and learn to generate his own power by using a more control oriented racquet. It will force him to fix his technique. He relies too much on the easy power Babolat racquet and he can't even control it and hit a lot of forehands long. He can learn a lot from De Minaur.

Felix has the game as we saw early-mid 2019 but he doesn’t have the mindset yet. By the time Rogers cup came around he crumbled under the pressure and hasn’t found his game since. Future Gasquet at best unless he gets a good shrink.

He has some serious problems with his serve mechanics and ball toss. With a height of 6,4 he has a much bigger margin for error than the majority of players on tour yet his serve has been a disaster for almost the entire last year. I also question his coaching team. Who are these guys? He may have to consider a switch similar to his buddy Dennis who is absolutely on fire right now with Youzhny.

One of the problems that FAA has is his serve. His serve is not really good technically. That's why he is not consistent on his serve. Today he finished the match with a double fault.:(.
