"It does not seem right that Wimbledon is the only tournament to have it's own seed criteria" - Rafael Nadal

Does anyone think it's right that Thiem is replaced by Anderson as #4 seed when Anderson is actually ranked #8?

Rafa clearly stated that he is against the Wimbledon seeding formula. Therefore he does care.

If you have a firm opinion on any subject , be that for or against , you care about the subject.
He cares in so far as it's inconsistent. No other slam does it, and they don't apply it to the women.

Now that is ridiculous! However, it does mean that Thiem could wind up in a quarterfinal against one of the big 3 and I would hope it would be Federer or Djokovic!

Inconsistent?

An inconsistency that Clay has 3 x M1000 & Grass has 0?

You'd have a point if both surfaces were equally represented yet Wimbledon had it's own seeding formula. Then your/Rafa's thoughts on inconsistency would have merit.

So as you can see , the Wimbledon seeding formula is there as a result of an inconsistency from the tour .

Do you think it was right that Thiem played four straight days in a row at RG? Or do you think the French could have done a better job with scheduling? I mean you are so concerned about Thiem.

@Meles
Thiem played 4 straight days because your boy Djokovic called off the SF on Friday to finish on Saturday.

Only reason they manipulate the seedings at Wimbledon is to try to give Federer a cup cake draw by hoping Nadal and Djokovic tire each other out in semi final...not realising that Federer is not good enough to make the final of Majors these days so actually Wimbledon suffers by having a low quality final as it will have a tired Nadal or Djokovic v some average serve bot.

What the whole world wants is the two greatest players of all time, Nadal and Djokovic going at it in a Wimbledon final.

Who cares, he had energy for 2 hours for the final. He got screwed hard. But not to worry, next year Nadal will be even older at 34, the roof should be built by then so no scheduling issues should occur. Check mate for Pareral.

Yes, the seeding based on grass point was done yesterday for the first time ever.

You can't be for F real.

lol both Nadal and Djokovic dreamt of winning Wimbledon when they were coming up.
A dream is not what you build your career on.

Grass has barely any tournament at all levels, from juniors/amateurs to pro, because grass is expensive and therefore outdated.

So the French did take the intiative to play both matches at the same time due to the horrible conditions, it has been done before in 2016, they also did plan knowing bad weather was coming, to get more matches earlier to allow players adequate rest, they also looked to move the final a day later after Thiem played ? All Djokovic's fault, right?

So Nadal getting third seed is all HIS own fault, everything that happened at RG and W is within the rules and legit. Nadal won fair and square there, and if Djokovic or Federer win here while only playing one of the big three, that is fair too. Thiem knows the rules also, and he accepts them, you should too.

Nadal schooled Federer last year on grass as did better at Wimbledon, makes Wimbledon look a bit daft. But its a mickey mouse event nowadays anyway, players don't care about all that Royal Box stuff, its so 20th Century.

You wot, mate?
Nadal went one round further than an injured Federer despite being 5 years younger. Normally I would laugh out loud but that's just Nadal so it's a huge achievement for him.

Wimbledon a mickey mouse tournament, omg LMAO. We're talking about the most prestigious tournament in tennis history here, not the French Open ROFLMAO.

What exactly is his point: that Wimbledon shouldn't have the right to determine their own seeding criteria?

To be honest I didn't read it, so I don't even know if he was making a point at all. But in general you could make the argument that it's strange for Wimbledon to be different from all other tournaments when, despite its history and traditions, it's no different than the other three majors on paper.

But even if Rafa did have a point, the fact that he only speaks out about his "issues" when it's not to his benefit makes it difficult to take him serious imho.

Nadal and his whining never stops

- 2 year ranking
- tour schedule
- Wimb ranking
- blue clay
- specific umpire (Carlos) not in his matches
- serve time stipulations
- WTF should be rotated

Did I miss anything ?
All the whining
Then everything is fine in the locker room

Another troll thread. Funny to see Federer fans blaming somebody on whining after all what they were saying about clay and especially the French Open.
What Nadal is saying is absolutely correct. Wimbledon's ranking system is a joke. And everybody knows it.

It doesn't seem right to me either, all slams should follow the same rules for 5th set tb and seeding. Pretty non-story comment from Rafa who was just answering a question, but of course it doesn't take much to set off the peanut gallery here lol

So it was actually just the reporters putting words into his mouth? Wouldn't be the first time.

Nadal no AOs in the last 10 years, no Wimbledons in the last 9 years, no WTFs in the last... LMAO

And he's 5 years younger than Federer.
Wtf is meaningless exho event..not even best of 5 sets...and every player considers Olympic Gold far more prestigious than WTF and Masters 1000s.

Nadal has won AO and W beating Federer at both at his prime. When has Federer beat Nadal at FO and USO...u walked into that one lol

Just imagine the meltdown here if RG would’ve introduce special seeding formula based on clay season. The whine about it being not a real Slam would last forever.

I see you're having an incredibly tough time staying in the proximity of the topic that you started. Are you gonna bring up that Federer has a bigger nose at some point?

No need, there are 3 Masters, a Slam and a bunch of 250s and 500s for the clay courters to build up their rankings. When you're a grass specialist you literally have 1 warm-up tournament and Wimbledon. The ranking doesn't reflect the best players on grass. Someone like Mahut or Brown could easily take down a top 10/20 player at Wimbledon.
