Funny most of my Greek mates love Novak too. I remember one year Novak rocked up to the local Serb church and I took 2 mates with me not knowing he would be there. After seeing him and quick meet / greet e.t.c they love him even more!
That's beautiful.

We're all Orthodox brothers. Eastern and Southern Europeans have a special camaraderie that transcends borders.

I don't know the heritage of the several Djokovic fans at my local tennis club, but the two Djokovic fans I do know are my girlfriend who is Australian and not Serbian at all, and another friend of mine who is Indian. Both are only very casual tennis fans though

That's why I first liked him in 2007, he was a cutie, although I'm not a woman.

Yet.

Haha nah but seriously, he's gorgeous. Nadal has way too much sundamage and Fed looks like an aged flute player.

Hahaha I'm a guy too, but then I totally get why women dig him xD

You will not find many Serbs come here and acknowledge

Truthfully , I would be surprised to see more than 20% non Serbians , even in a global forum like this .

Case in point USO 15 - support of 1000 in a 25000 crowd. Similar numbers yesterday . Just see the roar when Fed wins a point.

But the 80% crowd makes up for the overall small numbers with their patriotism by being loud here

Yet probably 80% in here at least that answered the thread are not Serbian. Keep your ridiculous biases to yourself sometimes.

My teenage year, I gravitated toward Rodick and Blake because of looks and maybe Safin. Djokovic not too bad tho especially he's always doing that rip off shirt kinda thing.
Maybe I supported him instead of the other 2 because he provide the alternative as I tend to support the underdog not the famous two.

Just to put things in perspective. This is not a Greek-Serbia thing with me. I love Croatian players too. Ivanisevic was a beast in his day, and I have the utmost respect for Cilic as a player, and consider him an unsung hero in the era. The best mover from the "Big Men" of tennis for sure.

I support Novak, because he broke through the fake "duopoly" the tennis establishment setup. The fake Nadal/Federer duopoly. And it was setup to benefit Federer, as he had no real rival from his gen of players.

Novak "stuck it right up them", and made them play ball...........and in the end, only Nadal was up to the task.

Ivanisevic as a tennis player yes, as a person he needs to evolve from spouting homophobic drivel to being an actual human. Much like Ion Tiriac needs to stop being racist towards the Williams' and evolve. Can't believe Halep publicly supports that cretin.

Although you may be right, I like un-PC like conduct. In this day and age, it is a breath of fresh air.

I think racism and homophobia are just a tad separated from PC-ness, to be anti-PC is fine, I'm not a leftist politically, but when it comes to issues that are long buried in the conscience of human history that's another story.

His achievements are incredible . No doubt but only 1000 out of 25000 in AA supported. So there you go
I wasn't there so I can't confirm or deny, but you have a statistical error in your by-line which leads me to believe you're not playing with a full deck of cards as we say down under.

Oh, I liked everything. Especially how you slipped in the end by hating on Federer.

8-B:giggle:
hahahahahahaha.......well in the end, him overstaying to protect his "record", ended up biting him the *** in more ways than one. And the Djoker had A LOT to do with that.

You have television there right ? They don’t cover the crowds and the roars and the boos ?

I have television but I'm not prepared to state exact figures of who the crowd was going for, you've clearly done a statistical analysis and survey of all 25,000 crowd members at the USO.

Either that, or you're just a ********.

The poms never show class in sports, they're shocking at the Cricket, the yanks aren't much better either. When Nole touches down in Melbourne, ready to clinch #8, he'll be the big cheese and warmly received.

We're like that in Aussieland.

Yes like who attends matches are a true representation of anyone's fanbase. He's the 11th highest paid athlete in the world in endorsements and has millions and millions of followers. It's pretty silly to think 80% of his fans and followers are Serbian. And I know you are not basing it on Wimbledon which has got to be the most elitist tournament in the world with the Rolex sign on the court in one of the most elitist sports in the world. Of course all of them want Federer to win when most of them are wealthy to being with, and of course even the royals want him to win. If you can't see why that is then you need to take the blinders off.

You are wrong. His overstaying led to him at least partially profiting (granted, not in the huge proportions as Djokovic and to a lesser degree Nadal, but still) from the absolutely pathetic situation, which is the reason why you and many others are still in a "chase" mode. Djokovic did what was expected of him and his position, so nothing unusual happened there. He managed to save face (which didn't go as well for Nadal), but there is more time for that to change too.

He saved absolutely no face on Sunday.....hate to tell you that mate !!!!!

Kiwi here and I like Nova...oh wait! I don't like him that much but he deserves every recognition and respect from all fans.

I couldn't watch Wimbledon final much as I was so invested on the New Zealand vs England cricket world cup final. Was hoping for a Federer victory. Sorry for him. Djokovic seems to have played perfect tennis in the big points to win his 5th Wimbledon title. He could go on to be the Slam leader of all time.

Federdone's myth was shattered on Sunday, I thought it would've happened sooner but at least it's finally happened.

He's the GOAT* now.

* = Not the GOAT

Nz was robbed, that overthrow of 6 runs and silly icc rules robbed NZ, you won me, for me NZ are true champion.
On side note didn't Santner ducked the last ball.

The roof was not closed "to his detriment". Both players were informed that there is a possibility for the roof to be closed, and he chose not to train in different conditions. There is no indication that that in any way influenced the outcome of the match, but, hey, when you have decided to be a victim to explain it, who am I to stop you. It is a recurring theme amongst the Djokovic (and apparently all the Orthodox brothers  ) fanbase. That is why I said to another poster yesterday (BlueB) that I love the schizophrenic attitude of being victims and cocky at the same time. It is just spectacular.

As for your "they are the establishment" and "Djokovic is not the establishment" BS, I already addressed that again yesterday. Djokovic IS currently the establishment, and has been for a long long time. You and the likes of you make the mistake to confuse establishment with media/spectators.

What is this claptrap ? What has to do with Orthodox Christianity ?

You have serious issues my man.

Are you denying that Djokovic has always been seen as the "villain", or third wheel in the tennis media ? You kidding ? Google his name right now, and you will see articles that have said that this happened in the past.

You have your head in the sand believing otherwise ..........
