Rafa Fans..how nervous?

Ive been hammered on here for predicting Nadal to lose since QF...yet despite scorelines making it look routine he could have been in alot of trouble in both his QF and SF matches had he lost long first sets which he came close to doing.

In both matches he has looked so nervous. We saw serena choke today...rafa choked in australia and to an extent in wimbledon sF.

Medvedev probably the worse guy to play if tight.

I must admit im pretty sceptical Nadal can pull this out. Any Rafa fans feel the same or are u all thinking Montreal shows the way. Personally im now hating Montreal win as that i feel will fire Medvedev up.

working over time to on the jinx. that and when he wins tomorrow they can go on about what a warrior he is and how much he fought through to win

I did and had Berrettini won the 1st set ibwould have been right.

That being said i actually think Berretini a better player than Medvedev.

How often does Medvedev follow his shots to net? That is his best chance. Cannot see him grinding against Nadal.

Certainly Nadal fans are nervous/excited and some not getting ahead of themselves since the final has not been won. But Fed fans are certainly edgy, some have given up

Bit puzzled about Federer fans...strangely a Nadal win tomorrow makes AO 2017 more resonant.

If Rafa loses ill console myself with the fact AO 2017 for now wouldnt be pivotal.

If Rafa wins tomorrow and then never won a slam again...well u get my point.

I have absolutely no idea to be honest. In fact it baffles me. It's a persona projection perhaps? I mean if your idol is going to break a record, his name will stand for eternity (not in the real sense of the word obviously) but not yours. I do not get it.

Why bad? Is it bad that I am not too invested on a person I don't know, who does not know I exist? Someone's style appeals to me, match with some of my ideals (the no racket breaking thing was huge in my preference for Rafa) but that's about it. I enjoy, have my prejudice even and the next morning I still have to wake up, make my breakfast and head for my work :))

@DSH Haha can't speak for others but that's how I am wired. It's just sport. It's a big deal for the sportspersons. It's their careers, jobs. To us it is and should be entertainment and inspiration IMO.

Nah, not bad, but I enjoy being invested and getting up for these matches. Even when Fed lost at WC it was such a blast and exhilarating experience... until he lost. Now my wife would agree with you ha.

Not sure I'm even gonna watch this match if Medvedev is planning on hanging out 9 feet behind the baseline and grinding it out with Nadal, with a 40% first serve percentage. That works with Grigor. Not with Rafa.

But I am invested in following what's happening. I woke up at 2.30 am to follow the women's final. I will do that for Rafa's match too. Regardless of win or lose, I don't see myself living in the match when it's time to switch gears to my own life. It's probably just that someone may take a couple of days and I might take a few minutes. Some here seem to take years :/

Well, obviously I turn it off mentally (the pain) after a few hours if it is like WC, then it might affect my mood for a day. But I mean hobbies should effect your a bit eh?

Yes of course but think of it this way - I play with my nephew a lot. I love playing with him but I am not going to be pissed off if he beats me in a game! It's just a game. I enjoy the time spent. That is all.

Sorry, I can't answer for others. People here come for various reasons. Infact I rarely post on this section. Mostly it's only when someone tags me. I am here for the odds and ends and for the live match threads. They are highly entertaining.
