Nadal will be 640 points ahead of Novak if Novak wins tomorrow. If not 1040 points.

It should be 640 , as i don't see Shapavalov win even a set.

Nadal would most likely need to not lose a single match until final, given Novak would not lose RR matches.

He would have thrashed Shapavalov playing with right hand.
Just like their last hard court encounter.;)

Not the way Shapovalov would have wanted to reach his first big final.

Hope it's nothing serious with Nadal.

Djokovic probably won't beat Medvedev anyway, and may not even beat Federer :)

I want Nadal to get No 1. But i don't see that happening.

I see the field will perform badly. Only Fed will be the competitor and Novak will outlast / grind him like the last few years.

I guess Rafa should withdraw from WTF as well. Let Djokovic have his #1 record, we'll focus on breaking the Slam one.

Why is it that when going up against Fred for YE#1 in 2017, he practically kills himself to achieve it, but he capitulates 2 years in a row to Djokovic?:laughing::laughing:

In all seriousness, I think this puts Nole as clear favourite for YE#1, provided he wins Paris, given Rafa has never won the WTF. Hoping Rafa recovers well for the WTF/next season and that Fed actually plays a good WTF for the first time in 4 years

But how will Djokovic beat Medvedev?
Medvedev is a more aggressive version of Djokovic, and Medvedev has won their last 2 encounters :)
Sorry, but Djokovic is no longer the best hardcourter in the world.....
Rafa and Medvedev are the 2 best hardcourters in the world right now.

Nadal is not going to play WTF. He will withdraw from it for the sixth time in this decade.

I know you're just joking, but the real answer for 2017 was probably because he was desperate to prove he could do it one last time after being written off. That same motivation didn't exist in 18/19.

Rafa just measured his strain and he said it is about 28mm abdominal tear.
Unless I missed something, he said it was 28mm in 2009. He was telling a story about the US Open that year and how it started small, but by the end of the tournament it had grown to 28mm. That's why he didn't want to play through it now. He said currently it's a small strain but it's painful and doesn't want it to get worse by playing like he did in 09.

So assuming Djokovic wins tomorrow and Nadal withdraws from WTF, everything will be decided in the SF. 3 RR wins won't do it for Djokovic.

With a prize in front, Novak does not give up so easily.

It is mug era all around.

Paris was big in the scheme of things. Nadal had to shut it down here.

Now, it is advantage Novak.

Djokovic if wins tomorrow needs to be make final at WTF, while Nadal withdraws or losses one match in groups. If Nadal plays WTF and gets to final unbeaten, it doesn't matter what Djokovic does tomorrow or at WTF.

Thiem or Medvedev can make it tricky for Djokovic in the Semi, but now that I think about it, I am just a bit disappointed. YE#1 would’ve been gravy, but still a great season.

Did you really just claim Rafael ****ing Nadal is a better hard courter than Djokovic?

I’m sorry but if they played the final we ALL know how it would’ve ended.

Will Rafa withdraw from YEC as well ??

What happened? He looked PERFECTLY fine yesterday. Can anybody say what happened?

This seems to be a strategic withdrawal with Rafa having done enough to secure the #1 spot on Monday and can now spend the next week getting in as best shape as possible for a more serious attempt on a maiden WTF title as well as securing the Y/E #1 spot!
