unusual Carlos Moya racket

Babolat paintjob racket personally used by Carlos Moya grip signed by him.
as with (from what i have read) all Moya rackets, this is a Soft Drive racket underneath the paintjob.
I believe this is a Babolat Drive paintjob never released on the retail market
it is painted to reflect Cortex and Woofer technology which is not on this racket.
Specs (actual, no specs included in paintjob):
grip: L3, 4 3/8
headsize: 100 sq in?
length: 68.5 cm/27 in
balance: 37 cm/ 8 pts head heavy
weight: 321 g/11.3 oz
balance: 37 mm .... lead under bumperguard

This paintjob is the 1st Pure Drive with cortex which i believe came out around 2006.

Nice racket! Man, Moya loves having a super head heavy racket, pretty insane!

Yep. I have one also but with a different PJ. I can confirm that it is a Soft Drive with "tons" of lead on the head. Will post pics if anyone's interested…

string are definitely poly similar to lux original but doesn't have rich creamy color - has a little tinge of gray. cannot detect label on the strings.

This is correct. It was also called Duralast I believe. I used polymono myself for years. First gen poly with no power or feel, only good for spin and being durable. Isn't made anymore.

I thought it was Bab natural gut because according to @RJYU in the first days of Babolat's rackets, they would give pros free gut if they played with Babolat's newly introduced frames. And it does look like gut.

Pretty sure Moya always used polymono. He got Rafa using it also (used it a long time until he switched to RPM Blast). Polymono has kind of a cream color and could easily be confused with gut from afar.

Wrong. Polymono is cream colored/off-white. I used it personally for about 60 years.

I used a lot of Polymono as well since that was one of the free string options for our college team. Moya also endorsed them back in the day.

And actually Duralast simply replaced Ballistic Polymono in Babolat strings line up. That was in late 2009 after Polymono was discontinued, but wasn't the same string and had a different chemical composition. They did play similar and TW actually used to recomend Duralast to Ballistic Polymono users.

Thanks...yeah I knew there was some duralast/polymono connection. I thought they just changed the name.

Wrong, I also used Ballistic Polymono for a long time and it didn’t have the color of the picture above...besides that it’s well known that Moya used Big Banger Original when playing on tour.

Maybe he used BBO but polymono was a cream/ivory color like shown above in Moyas racquet. I played with and strung ballistic polymono for many years. I know what it looks like.

Can you measure the swingweight please? Three different swingweights reported on these forums of 354, 370 and 400+.

I think his sw is about 400. No-one else on tour has ever played with such a light head heavy racquet. I think I read one time he had 21 grams of lead on the top of his racquet.

I strung a few racquets for him in Miami. If I’m not mistaken he had a hybrid of Ballistic Polymono and VS Touch.
