Hernández vs Nadal (Hamburg 2007)

Veteran Spaniard, Hernández, is battling out with Nadal. Right now, Nadal's serving 4-5. No breaks. Great match, up to now.

Edit: I meant, even in breaks (1 each).

I´m watching the match and Hernandez played out of his mind in the 1st set: good serve, good footwork, agressive tennis and no unforced errors. It wasn´t Nadal´s fault. Also, indoor conditions are not the best for Nadal but still Nadal found the way to win the set as usual.

Bring out the steamroll. Nadal has a bagel in his sights. 5-0

Oscar gets on the scoreboard, avoids a bagel. But Nadal is still in the bakery for a breadstick.

Nadal's serve

Can't watch this match live. Anyone watching - how do rate Nadal's serve.? Only it does not seem to have much impact judging by the game scores

who is nadal's next victim?

The next victim is a noticeable one, Igor Andreev. A worthy Russian warrior and the last man to defeat Lord Nadal I of the Iberian Peninsula in 2005 AD (on clay). It will be a memorable one. I expect the clash of racquets (Babolats) and the victor should be the Lord with the painted Cortex on the Aeropro Drive. Yes, it should.

I hope the match is played in outdoors, that´s how is supposed to be played. Indoors is a fraud.

Mallorca is an island, not part of the peninsula. I like your description though...

Andreev has insane topspin forehands but that will probably just play into Nadals favor since he likes high stuff. Nadal will most likely win 4 & 2, but I hope Igor can pull off the upset.

Mallorca is part of Spain. Mallorca is not a country.

Hawaii is part of the US, and it is an island. Why can't Mallorca be an island and part of Spain?

Exactly, he's just trying to ruin the post. Typical of a Fedfan. Nadal takes the spotlight, let's throw some dirt on it.

saw the first few games betw. nadal and hernan. today; nadal looked tired and was hitting uninspired, short shots. i for one thought he should not have been playing in this tourney. emotionally you can't keep this winning percentage up forever. . . but he finished strong.

and about andreev, although i really wouldn't be surprised if nadal gets beat here in hamburg considering 1. the streak pressure and 2. that he knows deep down that roland garros is more important and he could have a mental letdown, i have to say that nadal probably really wants to beat andreev on clay, so he'll probably be psyched and win.

then again, wouldn't it bring nadal's 78 win streak full circle if andreev beat him? as a nadal fan, i just don't know how long he can win with this pressure and just don't want him to falter in paris.

Nadal would do much better in this tournament
1. Nadal was rested.
2. Nadal had more time to adjust to the big change between Rome and Hamburg's speed.
3. Conditions were warmer. I predicted Federer will win tournament because of this. Nadal just won't have the fight that he normally would have if he was rested.

So, how did the 2nd set end? 6-0? Poor Hernández, but that what he gets for disrespecting the master on that 1st set :p

I fully agree with your views. I thought he was going to skip this one.

But hes not really an Iberian because hes not actually on the Iberian peninsula, hes on the island of Mallorca : )
Ok...Ill stop...just having some fun.

I knew you were having fun earlier in the thread too. But I wanted to keep the battle going to see if you caved. Your anal retentiveness stayed tough and prevailed. ;-)

A memory that will never be broken.
