If the cork had hit him in the throat would the champagne have been disqualified?
I see you aren't enjoying US open men's finals.Rome starts next week! Rafa going for La Decima in Rome, seeking title #10 so ready to see the King play again after so many months
#TeamRafa get your Snax ready
Nadal 6-4 6-4 something in a potential final
PCB shall beat Nadal.Nadal 6-4 6-4 something in a potential final

Bro wtfPCB shall beat Nadal.
Idk. I have a strange feeling about that match.Bro wtf
Printed circuit board to take down rafa??Idk. I have a strange feeling about that match.

This is something bad about Nadal that he always needs time and confidence in order to get into form. He is not like Thiem who can lose 6-2 6-1 to an absolute mug and then win a slam.Agree. And if he does get through PCB, his draw isn't easy at ALL. There's a lot of pressure Rafa will be putting on himself to quickly get ready for RG, it's not like he has a whole clay season to do it.... we saw how his clay season went last year, he was getting mopped up.

As you see, Djokovic fans are overconfident right now.I was worried earlier in the week, but I feel Rafa is about to come out like peak Undertaker at Wrestlemania. I can only imagine how ready he is to hit dat ball

Ehm, yes he can. NA swing 2017.This is something bad about Nadal that he always needs time and confidence in order to get into form. He is not like Thiem who can lose 6-2 6-1 to an absolute mug and then win a slam.
All I keep reading on this forum is how Djokovic is beyond mad and will now probably win the next 3-4 slams at the least.Who exactly is overconfident?
I think the majority of Djokovic rightfully agree that Nadal is still the man and fav on clay, unless we see something different happen over the coming days. Yes, Novak stands a chance, as he is a contender, it would be foolish to think Nadal is a lock over Djokovic anywhere IMO, but on clay Nadal is still the fav.
That was an exception. And he didn't have to face peak Djokovic then.Ehm, yes he can. NA swing 2017.

Absolutely nailed itMe waking up from a 3 hour nap to see the score:

We got our answer. You were right.
It was very nice of Rafa to not double-bagel the Semi Finalist from the previous major
I guess we'll see if that was just a honeymoon against a pigeon. If Nadal plays like that for the whole clay season, I don't see anyone stopping him.
Great gif because that lip / tongue thing Ledger does and his red thumb in that oversaturated gif makes it look as if he's halfway through a buffalo wingMe waking up from a 3 hour nap to see the score:
Djokovic winning the next five slams? That's a bit much, no?We are about to see slam 20 incoming.
21 next year.
22 at next year's USO.
22-20-19 this time next year.
Rafa is so humble not to bagel himWe got our answer. You were right.

I saw an interview w Casper Ruud where he explains the difference with the restrictions rules between USO and Rome. USO it was guards everywhere and they had to wear this electronic chip at all times to track their whereabouts. In Rome it’s nothing like that. It’s more based on trust, so it’s more free. According to Casper Ruud it wasn’t so nice atmosphere in USO because of this.He is looking intense. Even in the press conference after the match he was extremely sharp. You can tell how much he has missed being away from the competitive side of the sport and he is extremely excited and hungry about being back.
It's still too early to know what is going to happen, but he might end up causing a lot of problems for a lot of players.
"After the lockdown, the body had some issues" don't wanna be hearing that. Hopefully it's cool now

Maybe it was good for Rafa not to play USO after all, think he would hate staying in NY under almost military environment. And just prepare for clay. In the presser after the match he said he didn’t touch a racquet for 2 months, then started to play HC, then clay. So he hasn’t been playing on clay for that long. It’s crazy though, how he can just beatdown the USO SF like that, in his first match in such a long time, after not so much practice too. And for the first time ever w no crowd.
How do you feel he was w no crowd? To me he seemed extra focused, cause no crowd interruptions.
Rafa seem like a player who actually cares for the tournaments, he often mention them and are interested in how they are run. Now he has his own courts and academy as well. Many things on his mind.Originally I was very salty about him not playing USO, but once I heard what he had to say about it, I could understand it. He may have won the tournament, but he would have spent the whole time stressing out and obsessing about the details, and being concerned about the risks he was exposing his team to. As @StrongRule mentioned, I honestly don't think Rafa or Federer are as obsessed with these records as the fans are - not to the point where they want to risk the health of the people they think of as family for one major if they don't think things are safe.
Regarding the no crowd / small crowds, it seems like it didn't affect him at all. Like you say, it may aid in focus. I'm interested in how this is going to work at the French Open...... the few times I've been lucky enough to go to RG, the french crowd didn't actually support him as much as you see at the other big clay events, so maybe he won't miss it there. I think Rafa's insane competitive drive is such that he just doesn't rely on cues from the crowd to motivate him, but I think over time he might start to miss the performance aspect of being in front of crowds and getting their energy and feeling the emotional aspects of that. And obviously as a pragmatist, he would be concerned about the financial hit tennis would be taking without tickets being sold.
