Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

Head PT57A, RA 53. It’s not like a multi but, to me, nothing like RPM Blast.
Interesting, I am going to string this in a PA at 56/53, I’m surprised you found a good setup at a tension not recommended for poly. I normally play with blast, which is not uncomfortable but not natural gut. I tried the 17g and it was good at 48/46, gonna try the 16g at the higher tension.

I also think there is a lot of regurgitation of words read online about tension. I’m lucky enough to have a stringer, otherwise I don’t imagine I would have ever tried high tensions. Certainly a noodle for a frame helps a LOT!

Ok I finally felt the "firm" feeling. Played early this am - it was cool (45*f) and the strings felt way too stiff and brassy. I really attribute that to the weather though - it just dropped today for the first time - the temperature that is. I will see how they do this evening. If they still are harsh, I will try them at lower tension for cooler weather.

Was curious how they actually play vs on paper too? Liking the stats on the 17 just curious what that launch angle is like?
I have the 17 in a blade 16/19, I have a pack of 16g but I want to put it in my pure aero. Launch angle gonna be a little lower on 16 maybe, but still higher I guess due to shape = extra spin. Will try it out later this week.

The more I play Lynx Tour 1.25 the more it reminds me of TB 1.25. Fresh LT has sharper edges and a clear coating so it plays slightly spinnier and softer than TB. After 1-2 hours both strings feel and play the same to me though. Nice offering by Head which I may use instead of TB if I get better pricing since I restring poly after 2-3 hours of heavy hitting.

Similar experience - the first few hours were so soft and comfy, then it became very board like. Again, I have it at high tension, perhaps at lower tension that wouldn't be the case. That initial few hits though - felt sublime. Mind you - I like stiff strings - 4G, Big Banger, etc.

Strung it up for one of the best players at our club. He loved it on serve but wasnt convinced on the groundstrokes yet. Curious to see how he likes it after a while.

Head Prestige Mid 360+ @ 45lbs. Excellent!
Are you liking it better than alu power? I have tried Kirschbaum max power and Tourna big hitter silver so far in the prestige mid @ 50lbs and both have felt slightly stiff when fresh. Going to string up lynx tour next week and thinking I should drop tension to around 47 pounds.

Better control but not as much power or spin.

Been playing with VS/Lynx Tour now for a few weeks. Even with the gut in the mains you can tell the Lynx Tour is really low powered. But I’m somewhat enjoying that about it. My normal cross string is ALU Rough, def more powerful.
Im going to try Hyper G next in my crosses but at the beginning I wasn’t loving the Lynx Tour but I’m liking it now.

My racquet is a DR98.

Strung the champagne color 17 g lynx tour in a head prestige mid 360+ @ 47lbs and it felt controlled with good spin but was somewhat low powered and lacked the pocketing feel I enjoy. I’m thinking it will loosen up and play better during the next hitting session.

I like it around 44 pounds in tight patterns or really controlled racquets like the mid. Have it at 44 in a gravity pro and it is very good, give it a try.

Thanks Sinne, I am surprised and impressed with the control this string has. Looks like a good candidate for a hybrid string also.

i’m thinking on trying it tomorrow on an Extreme Tour. For the past week I’ve been using Element 55/52 on a 360+ Prestige MP.
Not really a fan of low 40s, but what are you guys enjoying? The Extreme Tour is a very different beast than the PMP and GP I’ve been using. Lynx Tour also seems to be really different than Element...

Element is soft and has some pop. Lynx Tour feels “dead” in comparison for me at least. But I always use gut in my mains, which provides the power.

How does this compare to Head Hawk? I am debating on buying a reel of Lynx Tour or maybe trying out Hawk to compare. All about that control!

I’ve had nothing but very positive feedback about Lynx Tour from players who previously used Lynx. I would 100% offer it to clients over certain other brands but for me personally it’s good in a hybrid. I have it strung up in the crosses with VS Touch, but I’ve also tried it with Reflex MLT and it’s a great combinations both ways

Tension? I have it in the crosses as well with VS.

Had my third outing with lynx tour and so far during the 5-8 hour mark this string has really opened up. Pocketing and power have improved greatly while still getting a good amount of spin. I am impressed with the quality of this string so far.

Hit with Head Hawk today - didn't like it really at all. Just very flat. Will see how it plays over the week. Have RPM Blast 16, Head Lynx tour 17, ALU Power 18, Big Banger Ace 18, Head Hawk all strung at 60lbs right now. I have to say, the Lynx tour may be the best. It really is between it and ALU Power 16L. As Louis33 said, the pocketing and feel are pretty amazing.

I used to play with a full bed of Head Hawk in an Ezone 98+, 46 pounds. I found that it played superbly after I left it for a day in my brother's car.

DR 98, 310g version.
I didnt like at the beginning but now that the string has “settled” I am enjoying the set up. I always use gut in the mains in all my sticks.

Nice job man, decent frame. Lynx Tour is exciting, loved it compared to ALU or RPM Power. Haven't played in a few months so my frames really need cutting out.

Fourth outing with lynx tour at 8-11 hour mark and this string is still performing very well in my prestige mid. Notching is present and strings are not snapping back as well but spin and control remain high with this string. Trajectory off the stringbed is increasing but the ball is not launching on me and spin still remains high so the control for me to play all my shots is still present with easy access to power.

I really can’t say enough good things about this string. My gold standard for strings is Kirschbaum max power and lynx tour is outperforming it as far as control and spin for me. I prefer the nice crisp feeling of max power but the plush feel of lynx tour is still very good. The biggest reason I am enjoying this string is the predictability off the stringbed. The consistent response is what I always look for in a string and this string along with max power are the best I have tried.

Just put Head Lynx Tour 16 in my new instinct 360+. This string is incredible. Here's how I would describe it. A less stiff Hyper G with more pocketing. The beauty of it is you can string it at higher tensions without worrying about it being too stiff. Hyper G and tour bite get too stiff above 54 lbs. Lynx tour retains its pocketing characteristics at higher tensions. Loving it!

Testing two setups: Lynx in crosses, Lynx Tour and Hyper G in the mains.

Of the stringer, Lynx Tour felt bit stiffer then Hyper G. Spin and feel was better with Hyper G, so continued playing with that setup.
After Hyper G broke, got back to the racquet with Lynx Tour in the mains. It has been a week after stringing, so it loosened up a bit and I felt that.

It was fine that to play, still could felt a bit less spin but overall control was good. Still playing with it, seems that playability is bit longer…

Fifth outing with lynx tour at 11-14 hour mark and trajectory has climbed past what I can play with effectively, and I started noticing increased vibrations so I will be cutting it out of my racquet. Next setups will be Head velocity/lynx tour and lynx tour/velocity to see if I can get longer playability duration without sacrificing too much control and spin.

Gamma clamps and mounting system will result in some tension loss. Not a big deal. I have a Babolat Sensor.

Ok now prove this? The mounting system functions exactly like the Sensor does. Clamps work exactly the same assuming they are new and adjusted correctly to the string.

Anymore comparisons with Hyper G in terms of power, launch angle, comfort?
I am actually loving the Hyper G but contemplating the lynx tour because of the nice color

Can't comment on launch angle, but I just played Hyper G and Lynx Tour back to back. Would say Hyper G has more spin, power, and liveliness. Lynx Tour more control/comfort and more muted.

Hawk was just stiff and neutral - almost dead feeling. Lynx tour has an almost gut feel. I’m going to string a series - 60, 62, 65lbs and see my ideal tension.
