The first TV my father bought actually had those doors to protect the screen. Then we also got custom TV covers stitched to cover the whole TV so that dust would not get in.

I can remember my family's huge wooden Philco tv. It was a 19" screen in a huge oak cabinet and I bet it weighed several hundred pounds. I didn't know what remote controls were yet until I caught my dad using it when he didn't think we were looking. I was just amazed that you could change channels from the chair, all three channels we had. My grandparents had an awesome Philco Predicta.

The tournament organizers tore off the court and sold it in the black market to Sureshs Devotees (TM) for more money than the chunks of the Berlin Wall were going for. That allowed them to fund the resurfacing of the court and had enough money left to open a new AYCE buffet in the premises.
