What do you consider some of the most underappreciated/underrated achievements of your favorite playersl? Are there any achievements that don't get discussed enough that you think should be recognized more?

Federer

has won four Grand Slam finals after losing the first set (1 more than Nadal and Sampras).

has never lost a grand slam final in less than 5 sets apart from French open.

reached 17 consecutive hard court Grand Slam semifinals (for perspective, Sampras' longest was 4. Djokovic's longest was 7. Nadal's longest was 4.

So an exception of 4 Slam finals doesn't indicate to you that it's a useless stat to hype up?

Federer having the two longest grand slam final streaks in history.

1) 10 (05 W-07 US)
2) 8 (08F-10A)

To have the top two is just insane.

Nadal leading the other 3 members of the supposed Big 4 25-8 in grand slam matches. Truly embarrassing for them.

Hewitt winning his first title at 16 straight setting Andre Agassi along the way.

Being the youngest year end #1 in history at 20 years of age.

12 years pro wanna-be GOAT - 0 WTFs. Embarrassing.

"But I would say that, with Rafa doing what he’s been doing, he has an argument to be in the conversation. Rafa isn’t done yet. He could win more majors. He’s got a winning record against everyone that he has played in his generation."

You're right. Nadal can have his H2H record, Fed can have the slam record. I know which one most people would prefer.

It's not excuses, it's a fact. You're living in cloud cuckoo land if you think Nadal's overall H2H would be so impressive if he played a more regular game.

So, if Nadal were a completely different player, his results would be different? Wow, stop the presses. :)

This also means that if Nadal’s topspin is easy to replicate and not based on any skill that Nadal himself has then pretty much every other player besides Federer competing in this era is a moron for not having incorporated it into their own games.

are you annoyed that Sampras, your hero in your avatar has consistently hinted that he thinks Federer's negative h2h is a major if not dealbreaker in the GOAT candidacy?

I never said a completely different player, just with regards to his forehand.

I am annoyed that this place has become a breeding ground for trolls that have nothing better to do than litter every thread with attention-seeking abandon.

I agree! You should read your posting history when you get a chance by the way.

If you take away their best shot, wouldn’t every player who ever existed have had a vastly less successful career? What’s your point?

What do you mean what's my point? All I said was that his H2H would be nowhere near as impressive if his forehand was more of a regular shot which I'm sure everyone would agree with. Which part of that don't you understand?

And that's only cause of BH abuse. So just imagine how incredible Fed is.

That's the basis of my confusion, as it basically goes without saying that a player wouldn't be as good or have accomplished as much without his best shot.

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something in there I was missing.

31 top-10 wins in a single season. Nobody else has more than 24 (also accomplished by this player, twice).
