I know maverick(5.5) has admitted entering US futures qualifier without any success.
Any other tw atp hopefuls that have entered futures tournaments?

The infamous F15. Heh. No. Had a surgery before playing my first match. The whole tourney got cancelled in the end.

Let's see what happens later this year.

Ive played Futures in the U.S. The qualies can be tougher than the main draw sometimes. The smart guys go to far off remote places to get their points first, then they bypass qualies.

I think Granitechief played some futures also. Also Sydney Jim and Mikel.

I played qualifying matches at both wimby (3 times) and us open (2 times) with not much luck.... Last year and the year before that i almost qualified in US open and wimby... i tried once to qualify in French open but i got whip by an argentine quite easily...

Pro Tennis is not my luck so i'm concentrating now on my sports store business while whipping some ass on my tennis club...lol

You mean qualifying for the US Open, Wimbledon and Roland Garros for men? You must've been top 2-300 in the world to get in the quallies!

Anyone can become a pro, if you work hard and set your mind to it...its not like football where they scout you from a young age. Tennis is all about devloping your strokes and winning.

And that's why so many people in these boards believe they can go pro after picking up a racquet, playing for a year, and being 18 years old.

No. Tennis is even MORE selective than football, basketball or soccer.

Obviously you have to have talent, but if you want to enter tournaments and work your way up to the top, you can. Not many people get very far, but unlike football you do not play for a team, you do not get picked, you do it for yourself.

"Anyone?" Are you kidding me Chris? I have tried to put enormous devotion to get in competitive shape and have been playing for many years... but don’t have the skill to match those talents on the tour. You can get physically strong & fit to equal the power and endurance of the pros, but to match their tennis/match/game/technique/consistency-playing skills takes a lot of talent!

I am not aware of any future's players on this board. However there are two players who are Ex-Pro's (ranked pretty high during their prime)

No..not Kirk Agassi. He is not good with computers to do posts.

I am surprised that there is so few futures players or ranked pros on these boards considering this message board is directly linked from the atp website.

players trying to get that elusive 1 ranking point could tell alot of wannabes on TW who want to become a pro the amount of time and effort it takes to hack it on the the pro circuit.

I never played any futures quallies. Wish i had tried but starting tennis at 25 years old isn't really the best preparation for that.

There is a poster here (4 posts) that has 8 points. I'm not letting the cat out of the bag though, i'll leave that up to him.

ATP Success is the most difficult

Being a successful ATP player is probably more difficult than starring in the NBA, MLB, of NFL.

The reason is that only the top 100 players in the world or so make enough money to support the high costs of travel associated with chasing the tennis dream. Those players ranked 100-500 or so are incredibly talented. We're talking about guys that have been playing since they were 5, received full rides to schools or tennis acadamies and who consistently play futures events.

In the NBA, MLB, and NFL even third string players and scout team guys make a pretty decent living, allowing room for many hundreds of full time successful atheletes in these sports. (Not to mention the minor leagues etc.) Not so in tennis.

That's great, can you post a link to the draw? How many points do you currently have? When was the last future/satellite you played and when is the next futures (since there aren't satellites anymore).

Yea you said that you were like 15, or 16. I remember two weeks ago you asked if there were any Central Floridian Juniors, becuase you were 16 and you wanted to meet one time.

How about a future futures player? Does that count. If so then, I'd like to include my unborn child, which my wife may or may not have. We haven't decided yet. Since it's my seed and I'm on the boards, then indirectly...I think you see where I'm going with this. But hey, it sounds as plausible as some of the posts in this thread so far, so why not.

I've been battling some futures lately but I must say it's tough to beat the tuesday doubles league with Granitechief....

Make that 5 posts.

Maybe i just have to work on making my calves more ginormous so that its actually tougher to beat me in the tuesday dubs league. My partner had ginormous calves but all that did was push the earth down just enough so that the other team made 5 let cord winners.

Anchorsteamer, looks like you won't have to worry about me taking ya out in the SB Open, cuz i'll still be in Kauai, HAHAHA!!
