Djokovic + NBlade = ?

Where does Novak Djokovic get all his power from?

Out of the current Top 10, he's suing a supposedly very low-powered stick which weighs as much as a woman's racquet:
* 315g strung and 2pts head-light.

Everyone else seems using way higher-powered / heavier racquets...

Yet he can bang the ball pretty hard and hits similar serve-speeds to Federer.
What gives?

it's called a custom frame?

Apparently Wilson have a few different versions of the nBlade that are quite different to the ones you can buy from the shops.

I can imagine it's pretty heavy and probably more head light than the retail version.

i'm amazed that someone with over 500 posts would ask such a question....dude....it could be any type of racquet under there with totally different composition, weight distribution, stiffness, etc...then you decide and see what's the closest racquet that Wilson has that can match it's design and shape.....then you give it that paintjob....

I'm sure that he has it heavily customized with weights and balance and such, but the body of it, the frame of it really looks like an nBlade. You can tell the design of those racquets anywhere, IMO.

having hit the nBlade, I can say with authority that, in stock form, this racquet is pretty sluggish in spite of its static weight. it's swingweight is in the 330's. I really dont care what Joker uses, but it's very easy to logic out that he uses a nBlade, and that he may not even have a lot of lead on it. Moyas racquet weighs very little, but I suspect his swingweight is pretty high

His (like Mathieu's) is from the Nblade mold but COMPLETELY CUSTOM. He uses a pretty heavy frame (I've held it for about 2 secs) and having been surrounded by Nblade's can tell you it aint stock.

holding a racquet for about 2 secs and actually playing with one are two vastly different things. most people when 'holding one' of these, would never guess its static weight is so little. also, nobody here is saying it is stock

So what your saying is I wouldn't notice a difference in gripshape and a huge difference in weight.

ive read somewhere that Joker has Wilson made his racket to feel like his old head radicals..he went through many customed rackets before he decided on the one taht feels most like his old radicals..thats what i read somewhere here before..

didn't he play with the prestige before? or was it just a radical under the PJ?

One way or another, good showing for the nBlade at this years FO, with Djokovic and Ivanovic both using them. As for Djokovic, if his racket wasn't an nBlade (customized, yes, but still an nblade) but rather some PJ, wouldn't Wilson have him paint the racket in the K-Factor color scheme?

you are a frequent poster here, and I am surprised that you think Djokovic uses a stock frame. :)

He is using a heavily customised nBlade.... but also remember that he probably get a lot of his power from his string..... According to a few in the know on these boards, he uses full X-one biphase job.... with a 350oz + frame, and a full X-one string job, you can generate some serious pop....Nblade or not.

Well the grommet strip isn't that of an Nblade and I highly doubt he actually uses something remotely close to the blade under that paint. For those of you that have seen an Nblade at the tip of the frame at 12 o'clock the blade has a white grommet strip piece within the black grommet strip that is easily visible. His blade doesn't have this, his frame is custom. Click the link below and you'll get a great shot of this, the grommet strip is completely different.

The picture link above is Djokovic, now lets look at Anna Ivanovic who has the white grommet strip at the top of her blade just like a stock model. Let's also notice a few other things in her picture from today, lead all inside the throat of the frame as well as lead at 3 and 9 on the sides of the head. I would assume with that much lead on a stock blade she also has some under the grommet strip.

Leading of the throat of the frame is something pro's have supposedly been doing a bit of over the last few years.

Is it an OS or MP? The head looks OS-ish.

Well just by counting the strings you can see her frame has 20 crosses so if it's indeed a stock blade it would be the MP and not the OS. It doesn't really matter though because her frame with all that lead on it plays nothing like a stock blade.

I was talking about Djokovic, but in retrospect I think the close up just makes it look different from TV. So I figure both are MP's. It's just hard to spot 98 from 106-107 for me.

Look at Djokovic's and Metthieu's stringbed. The most bottom string on the crosses is way higher than on a stock nBlade.

Has anyone personally looked at Ivanovic's racket. She has a ton of lead on there but does anyone know the amount of lead in the handle and grommets?

I had the same amount of lead on the 3 and 9 o'clock wings and the racket felt way too sluggish and more unstable. Go figure. But when I put half the weight at the 11 and 2 it gained is stability, pop and pocketing.

It doesn't matter what racquet he plays with, he's going to generate power. He's a pro and has an extremely high swing speed and hits the sweetspot everytime. That alone generates power.

Plus the guy is listed at 6'2" and 177 lbs. I think he's a little bigger than he might look on tv. He ain't a small dude.
