Is the new frame only a cosmetic change no new tech?
It's only cosmetic anyway for most these prosYes, cosmetic only.
Randomly/accidentally bought a used Gravity Tour today and had the first hitting session. Maybe the best racquet purchase I made in the last few years!! Demoed it a while back with a multi, but liked the Prestiges better at that time.
The feel is excellent; amazing feedback! Though I liked the Pro earlier, which had more plow through, Tour is much easier to maneuver; has bit more power.
Next to the feel, the best part that I noticed is the BIG sweet spot; helps in defensive positions. And excellent on the serves and forehand for me. Only thing that I could not adjust yet is the slice...the angle is much different than the other racquets.
Going to test it out in the next several days. Currently playing with the 360+ Prestige Pro (main), with v13 Pro Staff 97 as a backup; TC100 as the 2nd backup; those are good and have lot of control, but because of my game style, running into problems with the pushers/retrievers. And Gravity is shining in that area, because of the huge sweet spot!
Most probably this or the Pro will become my main stick!
No changes except the color. We live in a consumable society where nothing holds people's attention for more than 30 seconds except the little five inch screen. If you're not constantly pumping out a new frame or new color schemes/designs than it's not new or fresh enough. It's all about generating revenue and getting people to buy things.
I haven't seen the new colors in person, but from the pics I'm not a fan and prefer the original color scheme. Sometimes a new paint scheme can be nice when it's a dramatic limited edition change like the all black Speed 360+ release or the Osaka Ezone gold/black or all white frame options. And of course with the new color scheme they can price it at full price... because it's 'new' unlike the original which eventually gets discounted a bit after being out for a year or two.
It's a good point, in terms of the line standing out in the market. However, it's gradation approach to color makes it stand out within the line. With the new paint, there's no consistency of brand evolution. With so many brands out there (and existing Head lines) with so many colours, why build on one existing colour...yet suddenly throw in two new colours (blue and purple) on the others side? (rhetorical question). For me it was unique enough for the Gravity line to have a different colour on each side. That was already distinctive and disruptive. The new paint just dilutes the Gravity line and for whatever reason takes a racket I believe is mostly used by over 30s into a teeny, trippy, hippy territory.
You've hit the nail on the head. It is an attempt to appeal to the under 30s I think haha. Maybe the under 20s even. I think the new colourway is too much personally. They have overdone it, but I guess marketing thought we've done one for the older guys let's sell the same thing again and try and get it to appeal to the younger generation. I'm sure the gravity line is becoming a massive success story though. There has been so much enjoyment from this series giving the customer a lot of the things they have always wanted in a racket. The prestige is still the pinnacle of Heads range for me though. Unfortunately the prestige line was ruined as well documented after the attempt to stiffen the frame and add power to a true classic that didn't need that treatment. It's getting back to where it was maybe a gen or two and it can make it. I guess the game has changed and the younger gen demand assistance from the racket, the prestige as we all know needs the player to bring the power themselves, no babolat free power. With the new paint, there's no consistency of brand evolution. Got a Pro also now! It is more solid, and slices are also working better with it. Though, less forgiving and requires proper foot work and technique. Just watching the Zverev/Djoko match.. and it looks like the Gravity would have an amazing sweetspot. Might have to demo it to see. Now that Extreme's are extremely not extreme and more ovoid.. that bigger, rounder head is with the Gravity it looks like.I also randomly picked up a Gravity Tour about a month ago and had no expectations for the frame, just wanted to try out a Gravity. My main frames were a pair of TC95s for years until a recent switch to the UT and then UP 16x19, but I'm surprised to be reaching for this one more than the others. Mine came in strung at 318g/315sw/4pts hl. So far, I've only added 5g to 2:30/9:30 to get the swing weight to listed specs, but I'll probably eventually counter a little in the handle. The biggest shocker for me is on my 1hbh. It slices like a dream, which may be expected, but I'm having no trouble getting over the ball. I'm actually loving the forgiveness and generous sweet spot. The feel and flex are sublime, imo. Thinking about picking up a second and would also like to hit a Pro, but 330-335 is my sw threshold.
Stability between the two would come down to twist weight and torsional stability. In terms of power, the Pro gets its power from Sw and plow through. The Tour, if on spec, is a tad thicker in beam and a faster swing.Maybe anyone who played with Gravity Tour and Pro can comment on both racquets power level. I have Tour version right on spec with 292 SW unstrung. I put 1gr on 12 o'clock to have better stability, because im using Technifibre Triax multi string and its very light. I strung at 23/24 kg but next time ill plan to strung 24/25kg, because would like to have less power. Gravity Pro with unstrung SW under 300 in stock form would have less power than Tour and better stability?
The new paint job looks pretty cool on the glossy prostocks I saw Zverev play with last night. Curious if it's better for TV than in person. I was always good with the original paint job.New paint is better.
The full line is in distribution already so I it would be surprising if they held back now. The gap in weight and sw from the MP to the Pro is quite big.Does anyone know if the new Head Graphene 360+ Gravity Tour paint job for 2021 will be released in the US with the rest of the line in March? I recall it was a late addition to the Gravity line in the US for its initial release. I only see 4 models of the new Gravity on the Head Tennis US website and the Tour appears to be missing.

Could be wrong. Mostly always am.
Hard to tell if the colors look better on glossy prostock or retail.Have to admit after watching Zverev against Djokovic and seeing the racket more in motion, I thought it looked beautiful... Really liked both sides. Looking forward to getting my hands on one now.

For sure, but I think these colors are more night colors than the previous version. I thought they looked great on tv too, under lights.Very true, I did wonder that also. I think I will at least quite like it either way, if I prefer one to the other I think the preference will be marginal.
It's also one of those instances where it's just new and different. If this new 2021 version was the old version and the new one was the green/coral one I'd be saying the same about that too.
For sure, but I think these colors are more night colors than the previous version. I thought they looked great on tv too, under lights.
Currently I am testing these side by side. Tour has bit more power. Feel wise both feel plush and Pro has more plow through and feels solid. More than the power level, IMO, the main difference is in the maneuverability:Maybe anyone who played with Gravity Tour and Pro can comment on both racquets power level. If i find pro with SW unstrung 295-300, it would be almost equal with my tour 292 unstrung SW + 1gr on 12. So shouldnt be much harder to swing than Tour considered it has thinner beam?Im only 3.5 but i like to swing out and most frames have too much power for me.Currently I am testing these side by side. Tour has bit more power. Feel wise both feel plush and Pro has more plow through and feels solid. More than the power level, IMO, the main difference is in the maneuverability:
Pro: This is definitely for 4.0+ players with proper footwork and technique; and strength to wield a 330g swing weight racquet. Will work for anyone who is fine with ~12oz frames; others could also use it, but the real strength of it shows up with high RHS!
Tour: Anyone else who like the plush, feel racquets; would be perfect for the doubles players. Is a must demo for all the amateur players and weekend warriors!
I like the Pro better, but winning more points with the Tour; testing continues...
Please try the G Tour as a 18 x 19. Skip the top cross when stringing. I find it more forgiving with such a string setup. Being using my 2 matched G Tours like this.Currently I am testing these side by side. Tour has bit more power. Feel wise both feel plush and Pro has more plow through and feels solid. Right, but there is also the 10 grams difference in the static weight. For some, that may have an effect. I have two Gravity Tours, matched, at 321 grams static weight. SW is 320, but I'm using 1.20 strings. With a 1.30 gauge, I would expect weight and sw to bump up to 324/326, approximately. I will eventually move to 1.25 strings as the SW is a tad too light right now.Right, but there is also the 10 grams difference in the static weight. For some, that may have an effect. Definitely there is a clear difference in the maneuverability.
With some customisation, Tour could be made closer to Pro, and with the required balance.
But 321 and 327 isnt that big difference, and Pro has thinner beam. I used to play 300gr static weight and thought that weight myth is ********. Then i started exercise and now im doing more RHS with 330gr static compared to 300gr before Even at my low 3.5 level i feel like i need atleast 325 SW to not being pushed. With pushers which are 80% of the field i could get away with lower SW and static weight but when you meet solid hitting opponent i like to stand my ground and not being pushed.I have two Gravity Tours, matched, at 321 grams static weight. And I have one under-spec Gravity Pro. I use 1.10 gauge strings, putting the strung static weight at 327 and SW at 324. In this case, the SW is fine and groundstrokes are great. However, the static weight is where I feel it, but mostly on serve. My shoulder gets tired and sore after a while.
I've found that my SW ceiling is probably 324-326 and my static weight ceiling is 321 - 325. Above that and my shoulder gets fatigued.
Yeah, I agree about a higher SW than what I have right now with my Tours. Hence, the thicker gauge to bump it up a bit. But the increase in static weight, for me at least, is just stressing the shoulder on my serves. Could be that it's just me getting used to the weight and it's not a big deal, but that's where the difference, so far, is surfacing. Rallying, playing points, the Pro is great. I feel like i have too much power on groundstrokes with my Tour and a bit less power for serve. Thats why i put weight on 12 o'clock. Whats weird that i never felt like it before with any other racquet.Yeah, I agree about a higher SW than what I have right now with my Tours. Hence, the thicker gauge to bump it up a bit. My issue with servi go isn’t about power as much as it’s generating speed on the kick.I feel like i have too much power on groundstrokes with my Tour and a bit less power for serve. Thats why i put weight on 12 o'clock. Whats weird that i never felt like it before with any other racquet.
I’ve had success with shapes...hyper g, vsquare...helps to counter the 18x20 pattern. What strings work better with Gravity line? Round or shaped poly?
Gut/slick poly good but powerful. Lately im using Technifibre Triax. Its good multi with decent spin, a bit less than poly but anyway spin mostly technique. What strings work better with Gravity line? Round or shaped poly?
-shaped or thin IMOWhat strings work better with Gravity line? Round or shaped poly?
I've played with both, but have put a leather grip on my Tour. It feels as though there is more feel and slightly more control in the Pro, but better maneuverability with slightly more power in the tour, as most posters have advised.Maybe anyone who played with Gravity Tour and Pro can comment on both racquets power level. Maybe not the thread for it, but I recently swapped and rebalanced all my Tours to a leather grip (Head), with Wilson overgrips. The uptick in feel is palpable, however, starting to get some wrist pain on the anterior of my forehand side. Is this possibly just coincidental/unrelated or do I need to do something to make up for the loss in absorption from the standard synthetic grips?
Ive read that leather grips, while give you a better feel in the hand, are less good at dampening vibration.I don't own GT anymore, but I did the exact same thing with mine a few months ago. And the same result. I also had wrist pain
