Head Gravity Tour most popular or discontinue?

Except from TW and another TE the Texas base ecommerce site, I could not find any other ecommerce site like midw…or TP, from the manufacturer website, and RacketG…Canada base ecommerce site showing Gravity Tour as an option.
Does this mean either GT is more popular Gravity model among Gravity line or did Head decide to discontinue GT because it does not sell well compared other Gravity models.
Does anyone have any insight about why some tennis e-commerce site no longer offer GT as an option to be purchase anymore?

Not discontinued. Still priced at 239 I think. That said, my understanding is that lighter frames in general sell more. Most intermediate rec players players top out at 11.2 oz strung. Think Pure Drive or Pure Aero or Clash 100. 305 tends to be just outside a lot of intermediate players’ range. It’s more of an advanced intermediate weight. When I occasionally hit at a club, the Gravity MP pops up among men and decent juniors, while the lite and s racquets are quite popular with the women.

So not surprising that the Tour is listed in some places and not others. For example, I never see it in the walls at pro shops. But I do see the MP, Lite snd S.

I would assume its an artefact of the original Gravity Tour not being available in the US, so maybe that's either driven sales or only a limited run of rackets was made available to test the waters.

I think they always knew the MP would capture more customers than the Tour or Pro, but the Pro is the standout design...

I would disagree, most of the best selling rackets currently fall in the 300 - 305g bracket so surely there would b e a bigger user base to target with the Tour over theMP?

I'm just guessing based on some observations that the majority of sales are 300g and below. But it would be interesting to see the sales numbers...We do know that the PD, PA and Clash 100 are the best selling racquets on the market. That's 300, 300 and 295 unstrung.

personally i think they may have a better fan base if it was 16x19, and reserve the 18x20 pattern for Pro only. I think the dense pattern is a turn off for most rec players.

Hmm,

I've got a 1st gen (blueish/reddish flip-flop) Gravity Tour I purchased off the clearance peg, still NWT, right here in Los Angeles. Last I checked, LA was still part of the United States.

I've always seen it as 300g±5 since 295-300 always seemed to be the standard, and 305g seems to have cropped up with... the Pure Strike? (actually don't know what the first instance was).

Besides, I think the Tour is more of a niche, from someone that's looking for a somewhat more Control oriented racket, but at the weight of a "typical" tweener, otherwise they could just go for the Gravity Pro.

I agree with this. I prefer the Pro, in terms of feel, but I just can't handle the weight after 30 minutes. The Tour, and really 305g racquets hit a sweet spot for me as a 4.5 player approaching 50.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone can confirm that there will be a new Head Auxetic Gravity Tour. I’ve noticed it is much harder to find in the 360+ version now than the MP and Pro, so I thought it could be potentially discontinued.

My local tennis retailer said that their supplier is not taking orders for more Gravity Tours. I wanted 1 in L3 to match the one I had and they only had L2 and L4.

I assumed they are going to Kill the Tour and add in their 98 Gravity or something.

Gravity Auxetic will be out in March, from what I hear. Would be shocked to see a 98 Gravity…not sure how that works with the teardrop head shape. Also, that’s what the prestige is for. Speed would be a better candidate for a 98.

Simple solution: Order an L3 pallet from the UK...

Yes but I wanted a dead on matched pair... seemed like too much extra work for that.

My solution ended up being to get a new matched pair of Ultra Tours + 3 sets of grommets from bigbay for the price of 1 Gravity Tour.

Now I just need to get rid of my sad sad Gravity Tour.

I have the same impression, overall 16x19 are more in demand for casual players.

Also imo if you can handle the swingweight of the pro, it's just superior than the tour in every way.

Gravity Tour ended up in a weird spot in control-racquets segment: If You’re an advanced player, you’ll take the Gravity Pro or Wilson Blade 98 or VCore Pro 97. If You’re a club player, you will take a Gravity MP or… a Blade 98. Gravity Tour is forgiving but low powered and not that easy to swing because of high twistweight. It sits in the middle of nowhere in my opinion. Gravity Pro has better feel and more friendly balance, VCore Pro is maybe smaller but also easy to play and easier to swing, Blade 98 is much easier to pick up and play. The mix of high balance, high twistweight, quite high swingweight and low power is not attractive in my opinion.

I guess Head can do two things:
1. Throw out the Tour, bump up MP to 300 grams and reduce swingweight of Pro a bit
2. Leave the Tour but make it 16/20, lower SW a bit. Also lower SW of MP to 310-315. This way both frames will be easier to play for club players.

I demoed the Tour and liked it, but wanted a little more maneuverable feel so I tail-weighted it with a leather grip. I thought it played pretty well in that configuration. Although the weight ended up in the same range as the Pro, I thought the Pro would still be more effort to use based on the high SW and thinner beam.
