However notwithstanding the above if there ever was a crazy off the wall bat sh#t (get it) crazy set of circumstances for Kyrgios to win his 1st Major this would be it. I do think the past 6 months he has been solely focussing in this event and the courts are tailor made for him so if any of you want a trip to crazy town and having an off the wall punt and have disposable funds Kyrgios could be worth a bet.

Too bad he’s injured as always. Could be faking though, since we know he can’t psychologically accept a straightforward loss.

- straight set loss in about 1 hour against a player he usually is pretty even with

Kyrgios moves like a pregnant woman, plus he's lost 4 tiebreakers in a row to Nadal, so even the serve-bot's strength has become a weakness....

Krygios looks out of condition and injured. He also never works at his game so he never really gets better. He's a reality TV star in the making, that's all.

I think Opelka is very much better than Isner, in fact I can see him going deep one of these days, especially if he keeps improving.

so it's not just me, good. he'll always be kind of inconsistent, one because he's 9 feet tall, two because he plays a pretty low margin ground game. but man the guy moves awfully well for his size, is reasonably solid off the ground...he can put it together in stretches for sure.

reminds me a little of the promise that, for a brief moment in time, jerzy janowicz held...a 'very tall' guy who could really move, had great hands. although i think opelka is actually more consistent off the ground than jerzy ever was, even though he's probably a good 5 inches taller.

kyrgios has been on tour for about 8 years and only made it to QF twice in GS events so
i dont know why anyone thinks hes going to have a run here...
and by the way his last QF result was 6 years ago lol..
hes not evolving as a player and it shows
if he can get to the 3rd round he'll lose to thiem decisively and rightly so..
he'll be in the news tho for throwing a tantrum, hitting a couple underhand serves,
maybe a flashy tweener, etc.. tho.. and a 1 in 4 chance he'll be fined for something
and whine about it lol. ill still watch his matches tho lol

I would bet on Kyrgios falling out of the top 100 within 2 years more than I would bet on him winning any Slam. Haven’t his fans seen enough about the low level of his commitment to working hard and keeping up his physical fitness? Hard to see him lasting seven Bestof5 matches in good health even if he is top form - not to mention that he completely lacks the mental grit to win seven matches in a row also.

Maybe the Australien government, in its unrelenting quest to never have a virus present in the country no matter the costs, will disqualify ALL foreign players due to the virus risks!
Then De Minaur will be injured, and Millman disqualified due to tampering by way of spitting on the balls, which leaves Kyrgios to face Jordan Thompson in the finals (After receiving default wins in all previous rounds).

After a tight first set which Kyrgios wins in a tiebreak, Thompson retires with a bad blister and cries (Cilic style)

Kyrgios is Australian open champion 2021!! :)

Isner wins about 61% of tiebreakers in his career, Sampras about 62%, Djokovic 64% and Federer is the ATP career leader with 65%. So, Isner plays a lot of tiebreakers and wins only 60% of them. So, I would not read a lot into Opelka losing a couple of tiebreakers - it’s not like big severs win 80% of them.

Unless something drastic changes, that's the only Australian Open title Kyrgios will ever win. Nick has the raw talent to compete for Slams and can be entertaining, but without a strong work ethic and mental fortitude, he's about to be passed up by the generation of players below him and become irrelevant.

For the 2021 Australian Open, I expect him to struggle, but win his 1st round match, then lose in the 2nd round.

Tennis Australia is spending way too much money on developing reality TV stars, they should have their own show running so they can get some return on investment and if they'd brought Tsitsipas all those years ago they'd at least have someone to produce it

Not sure if you're joking but people used to say that about Isner as well, and he never got close except that one crazy time in 2018 where he single-handedly changed the way that the fifth set is played. Anyway, what I'm saying is that people underestimate the importance of having a good set of all-round skills at Wimbledon. Just because the court plays a bit faster doesn't mean that suddenly only the serve counts. Besides the grass doesn't play as fast as it used to. I'd be very surprised if Opelka ever makes the QF.
