thx

Great pics, and thanks for the fast posting.......been stringing for a while? The pics were taken of the areas/things that answer the questions, makes me think you understand the game...

so, now the only remaining question/problem, I'm in NJ, and while the shipping cost stinks, they all have to ship.....but that loses the element of control over picking the box/machine, and I've seen a few other examples where parts haven't survived the trip........so, would the shipping factor into your choice of Eagnas, or is the risk/reward worth it........I know, just an opinion!

Thx

I saw that already and fixed the problem. I was in a hurry to take a picture but everything is cool. Thanks for the concerns

Thanks D, I just know where to take the pics because that where I looked for when thinking about buying the stringer.

Shipping to NJ is a bummer. For us who lives in CA much more me that lives minutes away, its great to take the risk. I think you would be better off buying from Alpha since Mark takes care of your order personally, less risk you know. But if you order from eagnas, just pray that your stringer arrives with no damage and problem.

how do you get to clean the inside of the string gripper, dan. Thanks

I just hold the gripper so that the two sides are as far apart as possible and cram the alcohol soaked toothbrush bristles down in there. I work the bristles around a while and then insert a thin piece of cloth and try to slide it back and forth.

That's what I did many times today. I only have a problem with synthetic gut slipping, no probs with poly at all. Thanks Dan

You may need to adjust the gripper with the screw on the end of it. Turning it makes the gripper grab more tightly or less tightly.

I think backing the screw out makes the gripper grab more tightly.

Yeah did that also. BTW that perfect spin that came with the machine has a really thick silicone lining. I think thats the reason i'm getting alot of buildup in the gripper.

Yeah, must be something like that. I don't need to clean my gripper very often. You could have some really oily/coated string.

Here is an interesting fact about Eagnas crank tensioners. Maxline told me that all the Eagnas crank machines have the exact same tension head. From the $350 machine to the $800 machine, you get the same quality tension head.

Yeah neither have I, it just happened yesterday when I was stringing the perfect spin that it started to slip. So when I was stringing today with it (I ran out of my gosen micro) I have to double wipe it with a soft cloth to atleast take some excess silicone away.

true, but you said yourself if you can go get it get something else

I don't know if were on the same page here. I was telling DT that since he lives in NJ that he might as well just pay a little more for an Alpha because they'll give him the best service. He also said that he has seen packages that didn't survive the shipping process.

opps....

...laws of un-intended consequences...Fed, appreciate the thoughts, I tend to agree - machine may not outweigh the risk....though I'm a bit of a gambler, and tend to be lucky, so we'll see...

Alphas surely have their strengths, but I come from a fixed clamp background way back, and having played around with the swivel clamps, I really want to get a glide bar setup. So unless I decide to splurge on a Neos, things slide back fast to the 300's....course, there seems to be a glut of glide bar machines on the big site today, maybe I'll take a flyer for $50 and really drive myself nuts..........

I didn't like the 350 eventhough there was extra supports. It wasn't important to have the extra supports because I came from a klippermate. For the same price, you might as well buy the flex 940.

have I strung and used natural gut you mean? i've never strung natural gut before but i did use it in the past.

The slipping that I had a problem with was actually the string (eagnas perfect spin) it had too much silicon coating. I never had a problem with poly nor synthetic when I was stringing all of them on the same day.

yup, was just tinkering with my racket setup, and thinking about giving a set of VS a try.....crossed that brainfart with reading the clamp comments, and, well, there ya go.....glad to hear the problem was in the string, not the clamps......

Question for DireDesire

DD, How can I apply YOUR A.T.W. technique on a glide-bar machine with only one starting clamp? Thanks

Dan,

Is it possible to get one of these: http://www.eagnas.com/maxgen/fl940ms.html and mount it on the 300? Coz I wanna have some experience with a 6-point as well. Thanks.....

First, I'm not sure if it is possible to purchase the turntable and mounting. You could ask Maxline. Of course then you would have to buy the clamps and clamp bases. Even if it is possible to put it all together, you might be able to buy the whole machine for less money.
Second, I don't even know if the turntable could be practically attached to the 300. I suppose it's possible, but I don't know.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

That's cool dude, thanks..... I was successful on DD's ATW pattern with the 300 but the real time consumer was the "going around the world" part which I have to take the glide bar and install it each time I clamp that part.

After you do a few, you can switch the bar around in about ten seconds.

Hey, sorry fedfan, i didn't see this post!

I'm sure by now you've figured out that it's a big pain to do "my" atw pattern with a glide rail style clamp.

I used to try it on a NEOS, and ended up doing two piece patterns :p

It was a pain at first but a few more frames and I kinda got used to switching the glide-bars really fast. Thanks for your reply.
