As a Fed fan, I would say:
1. RG 2009 - It should be clear No.1. For all possible reasons. Fed complete all 4, Nadal's shock loss, Feds epic comebacks vs Haas and Delpo,, THAT forehand and Fed beat Nadal two weeks prior RG on clay in Spain.

2. AO 2017. What a legendary tournament that was. Best GS in last 15 years, possible top 5 ever. Fed's all road was tough as hell. Berdych, Nishikori, Zverev, Wawrinka, Nadal. And Melzer was no easy. Epic Fedal Final, Djokovic upset loss as well as Murray one, epic semi between Nadal and Dimitrov and gutsy comeback vs Nadal in Final.

3. USO 2008. Very, very important win in Feds career. His confidence was shaken after two losses vs Nadal. However, he was unplayable in Semis and Final. Forehand at most brutal. Beating Djokovic and Murray back to back is no easy task. Sadly, his last ever USO.

HM:
Wim 03(his first ever), Wim 07(Epic Final), Uso 07(Clutchest and only win over Djoker in GS Final), Wim 09(No.15, 16-14, Channel), Wim 12(Beating peak Djokovic and Murray at 31 in spectacular fashion).

First 2 for sure, but I'd swap out USO 08 for Wimbleon 2003.

The 08 USO was important for his career as you noted, but I don't think it belongs in the top 3 in terms of special emotions. And I don't think any of the rest are particularly close tbh. He kinda made a career out of steamrolling his slams. And while Wim 09 or 12 definitely have special meaning, they can't compete with the top tier.

RG2005
WIM2008
AO2009

Because of my national bias, Andy Murray's first slam and first Wimbledon get equal billing with the actual Most Emotional Grand Slam Win Ever™, which is Goran Ivanisevic in 2001.

1. Wimbledon 2019 final
2. US Open 2011 semis
3. French Open 2021 semis
Very good list!
I'd maybe swap the 2011 USO S for W F. I still remember watching that with my nephews and screaming like crazy on the street, in Croatia, when Nole still wasn't as widely accepted there as nowadays.

Sampras 2002. Proved that he still had what it took.
Nadal 2010 RG: Straight Setted the guy who beat him a year earlier.
Nadal 2017 RG: Beat the guy who beat him at AO 2014.

AO 2017
RG 2009
W 2012

If I was watching back before 2007, I’d probably pick something different for number 3.

Without a doubt AO17. Not even a hard question. Thought he would never win again, but to do it against Rafa after being down in the final set... A memory I will never forget.

Rafa's two first are easy. 2008 wimbledon, 2009 australian open. The third is tougher.

None of RGs really, as you expect him to win. Maybe the beatdown of Stan. That was a good run.

It's probably the 2010 USO to complete the Career Golden Slam. In fact, I guess it's still my avatar. I'm lazy.

Federer doesn't do emotional nor drama. Besides '17 AO and '07 Wim, I don't know if he had any emotional win.

Most of Rafa's wins are at RG, which has been pretty much drama free for him, besides '13 RG over Djokovic.

AO ‘17 for all the obvious reasons. The draw Fed had and the way he played, plus the drama in the final. Amazing.

FO ‘09 simply because of that forehand against haas.

W ‘12 because of the Benny match

What? Fed clearly was more emotional in that win than any other.

1. FO 1999 - Steffi's return and revenge
2. Wim 1991 - another loss to Sabatini might have ended Steffi's career
3. USO 1995 - the stars were aligned against Steffi - and yet she won
The UsOpen 1995 was totally incredible. Back problem, foot problem, resurgent Monica Seles - no problem. What a smart match Graf played in the final. Never been more proud as a fan.
To me Steffi will always be the GOAT.

1. 2008 RG F - Just the feeling of seeing Rafa go crazy against an amazing opponent and seeing just how high he could go in terms of level.

2. 2012 RG F - From a purely emotional standpoint this is probably No. 1 for me.

3. 2010 USO F - ServeDal achieving the career slam and finding form at USO at such a young age. At that stage almost anything seemed possible. Looking back any wins against Djokovic at USO must feel like gold dust for Rafa. Very important matches.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot that one. Might be about as happy as I've ever been after a tennis match.

HONOURABLE MENTION:
New York 2013 aka Clay? We don't need no stinkin' clay!
