Thanks mate - good info. They are pretty similar and you could easily play with on or another, the minor key differences though:
Flame Red: Softer (yet equally comfortable) and most importantly has great feel and ball connection, even if you use a dampener. A bit unstable vs heavy hitters. The majority of advanced users here have added lead @ the hoop.
2021 VC95: more stable stock and slightly (emphasis on slightly) more powerful. Muted but not to 100% muted, unless you ad a dampener. Allegedly more sweetspot but I feel them the same.
For context I summarized what others have said and also can back up those comments since I finally got my hands on a red VC95.
Im at 345g, 8 pts HL, so i would assume my SW is in the 330's but still it's much lower than the 350 SW i was yielding before. Plenty of power & spin.I don't know what it is, but I tried lead at 12 on mine today and did not like it. The SW was 323. So I removed the lead at 12, and went back to my preferred setup (3 total inches of lead across 3 and 9) which is 332 grams and 317 SW with overgrip. I immediately found my groove again. Never really liked a SW this low before, but for whatever reason it works incredibly well in this frame. I can hit big off the ground and on serve so I don't really need any more power.
Thanks mate - good info.
found a brand new flame red VC95 in L3 today and thought it’d be rude not to pull the trigger…. Let’s see if the wife sees it. Lol
I have checked pretty much all retailers (online) over the weekend while looking for a new 6 pack bag, and only came across one in the UK - it was the last (brand new) one and in my grip size.Any retailer still selling the red?
Okay. Good advice.Edit: my advice is to call your local shops.
My local shop has a used 2018 Vcore 95 going for $120. I may try it out.
AC128exDoes anyone know the what the base grip on the yonexes is and where we can buy more?
AC128ex
I got mine on the Bay as the major online tennis shops didn’t carry them last time I checked. Same with Yonex leather, although I have seen them on TE at some point
Appreciate that! I should be ok if the excel pro is the grip now. In the past they were like 1.25 mm thick - super thin and tore pretty easily.I've got some I've taken off Yonex rackets if you're interested in them. Taken off Duel G's and possibly some older VCore Pros
Would actually love to revisit the previous version now that the current version is my main. Only played with it a bit. Liked it but couldn’t serve with it. Wonder if that would still be the case now. Might be nice to have the all-red boy again.
Oh, that’s good. thanks. it will give me a good excuse to hunt down a good used 21 VC95… if not, I will just have to pull a trigger on a new one…. If I like the FR VC95.I played very briefly with the previous gen. All I can recall is that it was less powerful than the 2021 version. I can't recall much about the feel but there was a big power difference - especially in stock form with no lead added. I personally prefer this current gen much more than the 2018.

Somebody beat me to the used grip 2 VC952018 in the classifieds. Kills me.
And then in a rare twist of fate i found one for less on The Bay.
I wish I had another one, sorry for that feeling of loss, it happened to me before D:
But I am glad you found another one!
I have the new 2020 limited edition one in 4 3/8 grip! Let me know if you wanted that one.

NO!!! IT IS NOT OKAY!!!All good my man. Congrats on the quick sale!
NO!!! IT IS NOT OKAY!!!
JK.
Going to add some lead to the handle to simulate a leather grip added. Not sure when...just got sidelined with injury.
it wasn't me...thank you for the well wishes.Oh so you beat me to the punch on this one? lol. If you change your mind on it, let me know.
Hope you recover soon!!
Add some lead at 3 & 9 and try it again.I demoed the 95 and thought it was o.k. Nothing special though imo. I agree with others that it does feel a bit stiff. And the head is just a tad too small. I'm so used to 97's and 98's that I was hitting slightly off center on my forehand side sometimes which didn't feel good on my arm. I'm sure that in time I could gel with this frame. But I'm going to pass on this one as I believe the Pro Staff 97 is still a much better frame in all categories. But not a bad frame for those who like mid sized heads. Just not my cup of tea.
I added lead to 3, 9 and 12Add some lead at 3 & 9 and try it again.
Now that I've hit with the VC95 for a while I would have to say I prefer the VCP 97 310 by a good margin. I really liked it's feel, balance, and the launch angle was more similar to my Speed Pros.
What tension are you guys playing
As much as I like that offer I have to decline. Since I'm playing with the Pres for now, I just want to sell the 95.I have a like new green vcp310 L2 I’d trade for a 21 vc95 L2 or L3
Finally pulled the trigger on a 2021 VC95!
Being a longtime SV95 user, I found the stringbed to be less “launchy” than the SV95 which is awesome for depth control but I prefer the more pocketing feel of the SV95 vs the more crisper and deader feel of the 2021 VC95.
Is the difference that big ? I currently have an SV95 and I am considering trying the new one. What did you string the SV95 with ?
I found the difference to be big but probably it is due to the fact that it is a fresh stringjob vs an old one. But, regardless, it is there probably due to the “Spin Vortex” technology in the old one that is advertised as promoting spin but also ball pocketing, if i’m not mistaken. They are both strung with Luxilon Savage Black @ 60 lbs with a leather grip and 2g at 3&9. I found that string setup to be ideal in the SV95, but not so much in the 2021 version as the pocketing feel is lacking. Maybe the next time, I will string the VC95 at a lower tension. However, I did feel I can generate easier spin with the new one due to the enlarged upper section of the hoop.
As much as I like that offer I have to decline. Since I'm playing with the Pres for now, I just want to sell the 95.
I wish my VC95 was glossy like Shapovalov
I too am not a fan of matte finishes. I think the SV95 was the last glossy version of that stick.
Demoed it just now and about to order a pair. Can someone can tell me, if the grip size for Vcore 95 (2021) is a bit bigger as is usually the case with Yonex?
The Yonex grip is a bit chunky. I like an L4 with a thin base grip or an L3 with a standard thickness base grip (YY base grips are pretty thin by most standards).Demoed it just now and about to order a pair. Can someone can tell me, if the grip size for Vcore 95 (2021) is a bit bigger as is usually the case with Yonex?
Even with 1.35 gauge string, plastic on the handle increasing already the inconvenient L4, and protection tape on the head, I was blown away by the racket. Depth, spin, power, sound, stability, quickness through the air, you name it, was awesome. The very upper hoop is a bit too stiff for my liking, but no need to hit in that zone after all
Was waiting to test a Vcore 97 PRO, but playing a lot with a previous version and reading the reviews here, there is no way it can be better for my game than this beast.
