Sure, postpone the AO. I'm sure all the other players would love that. Especially the lower ranked ones who would lose lots of money from already spent transportation and lodging costs.
And once he is out of the news, and whenever his career is finished, many will disappear as quickly as they appeared.
I probably know more about his game (which I've always liked) than many of them. They are not here for the tennis, but other causes.

Well, it's becoming clear in comment sections, social media and websites that Djokovic's fan base is now more ideologically driven and that he is attracting people who self-identify with the ideological space they imagine him to represent.
The people who support him going forward, will likely be doing so on national/ethnic grounds (clear limits geographically and demographically) or because they view Novak as one of their own ideologically.

The same can be said about droves of new haters he's gained in the last week or so, thanks to a disinformation war waged by the media to paint him as the villain. There are people who never followed tennis who came in just to attack him
That's not mentioning his tennis haters, who have always disliked him, and are now using this as an excuse to kick him some more while he's down

Djokovic has alienated far many more disinterested observers than he has gained them. He is becoming intensely supported by a more and more narrow and ideologically driven base.

There are a lot of people on other forums saying they used to support him but no more. Of course some of that might be in bad faith but probably not all.
We forget that for a lot of people who say they're fans of someone, that means they cheer for them at Grand Slams but barely think about them the rest of the time. It's all those casual fans that he's lost.

I have cheered for Djokovic quite a few times over the years. (*) I will not do so again.
* I wouldn't say I supported him. I actually haven't had a real favorite in decades. But he was one of my preferred players.

I cheered for him in the 2011 Wimbledon Final (not entirely for noble reasons!) but I did think his tennis was amazing in that.
I don't agree with his anti-vax stance but that's not the reason I've lost respect for him in this saga - it's watching him demean himself with this web of ridiculous excuses and (likely) falsehoods. He has plenty of time to win more slams - Federer managed three in his late thirties and Novak doesn't have himself as competition. It can't be worth what he's lost in his own self-respect to win this one "right now".
