this is what you and all nadal fans are hoping for....

djokavic is the real deal and he is here to stay for many years to come as long as he keeps his head into it....i think he's going to stay at #3 for a while but in a few more years if no other player storms the ranks, i see djokavic as a future #1

Novak already has more wins over top 10 players than Blake, even though he's much younger. and he's been in 2 slam semis(blake none)

He is a legit contender, but it's too early to say weather he is a future No. 1. Too many factors. There are other players: Gasquet, Murray, Nadal, and now maybe Querrey and Isner. Its just too early at this stage to tell.

Isner? You crazy??? LOL

Isner got one lucky week but he's been losing in the futures and challenger level all last year..

Gasquet, Querrey, and Isner are not #1 tennis player in the world quality. Gasquet is the closest of the three, but there is something in his game missing and I just can't put my finger on it. Great game, just needs more consistent results...

Murray and Nadal possess all the talent...

Djokovic is a great player but i dont know if he has what it takes to be #1 in the world. Anyways it wont be anytime soon if he even has a chance in being number seeing that Federer has a commanding lead in total points. Federer still has to break Pete Sampras's record of 6 straight years as the world #1 player in the world first, then afterwards Djokovic may have a chance.

it depends a lot on how he does at the start of 08...thats what happened to blake, he started this year not very well and hasn't recovered

I would like to vote, but I don't see an appropriate box. We know he owns no,1 and 3 in current rankings, so yeah his current status is number one. You seem to have neglected a poll option of "Safin is greatest of all time and Djokovic is the no.1 by current play results", then much more people would vote.

Nadal himself (in his ATP blog during FO and in his blog during Wimbledon) has said that he thinks Djoko will be a future world number 1 .

Anyone care to revise their vote after old man Mya schooled djoker? OR will there be excuses?

- "oh he was too tired after beating fed"

- "oh he's played too much tennis lately, he needs a break"

- "...."

how 'bout 'who cares about cincinnati?' the fact that he reached the semis at the french & wimbledon this year far outweighs any of his wins in masters series events. only nadal, federer & agassi have been able to do this in the last 10 years.

Id say nope sorry, I stick by what I think - Nole is thefuture nr1. Moya is old skul but hes still pretty good and Id say out of all other players on the tour hes got that something to beat novak since this is not the first time he has done it. SO basically I think his game has something which novak is uncomfortable with but thats just it ..

To add just one more thing, I firmly believe that he dealt with nole twice lately because of the style of game he has. I am sure novak would LOOOOVE to beat him so no way he surrenedered or whatever, this is not tactical, but he is not federer ppl, he has bad days and very bad days ( umag croatia, remember ? ) - this is what all youngsters have to face.

I would also add that Sampras was the guy who lost so many matches to virtually nobodys in tennis while he was in his prime for example and that did not mean much to one of the all time greats.

The way Djokovic beat Baghdatis in Wimbledon's quarter-final and overcame an inspired Stepanek in today's thrilling match, shows IMHO that he is someone with enormous mental strength and inner belief. That is THE mark of a true champion.

It's his fitness........this guy is just too fragile physically

Yep, this would be mine point also. He did not look bad from the 4th set on, he looked bad from the beggining ? Does anyone else feels like that ?

I stil do think hell be top 5 next year easilly, but I am not sure that he will win any GS soon if he does nt up his fitness level at least 30% ..

I voted legit contender only because he must stay healthy and continue to improve. However he has the best shot of any of the current pros to reach the top based on his talent.

I'm not so sure if he'll be the future no.1. I'll atmit that he doesn't really have a weakness and he's very tough and all, but I just don't think he's as talented as Federer for some reason. He may be able to get to no.1 spot for a moment, but he sure won't stay there for long.

I dont think you can consider him as a joker, hes number 3 in the world and has beaten Federer previous tournament. He is probably the only guy in the world right now to have any chance against nadal and federer on any surfaces. Its not a question anymore if he is a potential grandslam winner. I think it just comes down to when and where he will win his first major, i think he will defintely have better career than safin.

I think he's at least a contender. But you never know long term about a guy until he's faced some sort of adversity. He has lots of heart, I know that much.

But we've also seen a lot of guys recently do well for a couple of years, become satisfied with their fame and money, and then sort of coast. I don't foresee that for Djoker. But the late 90's and 00's have been littered with guys that get lazy or injured after winning a slam or two.

I definitely agree with anyone that says that Federer is better than everyone else. But I also think he works harder than most do. We know Nadal is willng to work hard. Hopefully Djoker will continue to do so as well.

He is still developing , Id say hes both wings are amazing but not federer alike. But he has some years to catch him, fed was not the ace he is now at 20.

It depends. Each person has his own limits. If his limit can allow him to improve further then I can see him surpass Federer some day, but I doubt it. I think he's almost at his prime already.

I am looking him up close. He improved serve and forehand very much in last 6 months alone. Volleys are the next thing and wodbridge is working him on that department, can you think of a better guy to teach you volleying ? As for the condition , I think he has issues there, thats my ONLY concern. Serve for example, 06 he could hardly hit 195kph, nowdays he can hit 210 kp. I think es going to up it to 220 kph by 21 or 22, goes to show he can add power. I think his bh is pretty now, so Id say if he can be more phisically prepared, he can still add another 10 - 20% to his game. Consistacy will come with experience, I hope this will all happen because federer domination is becoming increasingly boaring. I love to see him play but Id like to see somone challanging him or at least threatning more than current robredos, blakes, gonzos, roddicks, hewitts and so on .. At least on hard and grass.

Would you care to revise your opinion after the old joker schooled moya and couple of others on his way ?

- Oh hes old and far from his best.

- Oh he did not expect from 20 year old to beat him after taking just 5 games in their prev match ?
