typical American response...............
people can believe that Roddick can hit 155 mph but cannot believe David ferrer's 151.5mph serve and automatically make up excuses like there is a malfunction with the speed gun!?
Indeed. Because he can't hit 150.typical American response...............

it appears to look like roddicks "world record" serve is going to be toppled soon!
Ferrer IS ONLY 5'9" AND 160lbs also!!!
why doesnt someone just post the link to the table, and then it will be pretty clear to see
How is this possible ?? He is a little guy like 5 foot 10 inches tall, maybe not even that. Can little guys serve big like this ? is this possible ?
Do you reqire DNA and fingerprint evidence also?

Remember these facts
wafer thin Andy murray hit a 145mph bomb at the SAP open this year.
A 17 year old donald young hit a 135mph serve at the usopen last year
Olivier Rochus at 5ft5 hit a 135.5mph serve
You do not need to be called andy roddick to serve rockets!

yeah, very typical, but hey, thats all they have, since roddick isnt a legend.
Olivier Rochus uses a Prince Triple threat graphite that is extended to 28.5 inches so you have to give him 1.5 inches to his height. so he would be 5'6.5" still pretty good. One thing i do want to add though is for all you Juniors that is not above 5'11". Please don't give up on developing a Big serve, it is absolutely essential in today's game. Guys like Rochus is a good example that little guys can serve big although not as consistantly big as Roddick and such. But the whole objective is to win 1 or 2 easy points by using a very offensive serve per service game. If you do that you will win 80% of your service games.
Typical dumbass response. First of all how do you know these are americans on these boards? Secondly Roddick consistently hits high 130s and 140s, where as these two guys rarely go over 125 during a match.

LOL! It's Andrés, by the wayandreas is right! we had this debate more then once... something isn't right with radar guns in this days (or with those in the past)!
just look some old matches from the 90's ... you will see that pete, goran, richard, mark had far better (and faster) serves than most pros today.
you don't need a radar gun, just look how the ball travels.
and now everybody, even those who where playing in the 90's now serving 20-30 km/h faster... (plese don't bring up the technology thing -rackets/strings) and the ball still looks same fast and has the same impact as in the 90's.
i mean look at the DC matches... almost everyone clock's 228 km/h serves.
to me a good old 201 km/h serve look's the same as '07 220 km/h serves.

Not quite, because no gun clocks the speed when it bounces. It's always between the racquet and the netOne other thing to remember is that the courts were a lot faster in those days. Now, a ball loses 50% of its speed after it hits the court. In the past, it would only lose maybe 30%, So, the serve would look a lot faster then compared to now.

I believe he never hit ANYTHING above 140, heck, perhaps 135, and now, all of a sudden, adds 10 mph to his serve? and only ONCE in a match?
And Guccione and Dent have hit 150s before. Karlovic was close with 149, but both of them have HUGE serves, while Ferrer doesn't. I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas Johansson, or Ivan Ljubicic or Almagro hits a 150... but watching Ferrer hitting a 150 is like seeing Nalbandian hitting a 150.
And I'm not American.

Maybe a really fast fly flew by the radar gun.
Bozoljac clocked a 153 mph once, according to Jonnyf who saw the match liveInfo for you guys. Rusedski sat along with zimonjic and davis cup coach petrovic when Bozoljac, low ranked serb shot a world record serve a while ago, like beg of 06. When they checked the clock it was not there and rusedski was anoyed and all of us in serbia dissapointed. Ill try and dig up the video somewhere, I dont know miles but kph and it was 2 kph faster than rods but did not stand due to lack of the figure on the shot clock .. Just wrote this so you can know, most of the guys who were there were dissapointed.
