David Ferrer is better than Berdych, Tsonga and Del Potro

They are more talented than Ferrer, but not better...big difference

Tsonga and Berdych have a slam final and a M1000. Ferrer doesn't have a Slam final and could finally won a M1000 when everybody else tanked and faced LLODRA in the SF and JANOWICZ in the final.

Berdych and Tsonga are actually a threat to the top guys. Tsonga beat every top 4 at the slams. Both beat Federer at Wimbledon. And when they are facing them in at the later stages of a tournament you know they won't be demolished like Ferrer did against Nole at the AO, or against Nadal in RG.

Ferrer is a great and consistent player, but he doesn't have a chance when he faces them. And he doesn't have any great highlight in his career to be placed above them.

Davydenko never reached a final at a GS, but he had some close matches with Federer at the SF and won 3 M1000 and a WTF. So you could make a case for him being better than Berdych or Tsonga (it would still be close).

When facing the Big 4, I would always rate Ferrer below Tsonga, del Potro and Berdych. Thanks for the heart, there is everything to appreciate about Ferrer.

Its true- look at the proof, the head to head records-

vs ~Del Potro- http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=F401&oId=D683

Vs Berdych- http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=F401&oId=BA47

Vs Tsonga- http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=F401&oId=T786

The results are indisputable, and speak for themselves. Watch Ferrer vs Berdych in Abu Dhabi 2012 for some aggressive tennis from Ferrer, who doesnt get his due on this forum. He can be aggressive, and despite claims to the contrary, he has a powerful forehand which is among the most accurate on tour. Also his serve is great and very consistent- he served something like 15 aces in his match vs Almagro in AO.

As of now Berdych owns Ferrer in Majors and Tour Finals. Ferrer may have achieved more than Berdych but I can't see him as a better tennis player than Berdych. Ferrer is just more consistent.

The hierarchy is clearly,
1. Potro
2. Tsonga
3. Berdych
4. Ferrer.

If you factor in consistency as well then Potro > Ferrer > Berdych > Tsonga.

Comparing Del Potro with these guys is just silly. He stands with Stan in that tier between the big 4, and the little 3. I'd go with Ferrer over Berdych and Tsonga. He has fewer weapons at his disposal, and yet has accomplished a more than comparable amount. Ferrer has frankly massively overachieved, while the other two are criminal underachievers. Tsonga in particular should be sort of embarrassed with himself.
