I can't make a decision between these 2 strings  . I heard lots of good reviews on these 2 strings but can't decide which one should I string it to my Pure Drive Roddick Plus.

I love hitting topspin and I am looking for a string that is durable, at least can last for one month, comfortable, and most importantly the string must not lose its tension fast.

I play tennis 3 times a week, mostly 2 hours and I usually play in the evening.

So which is better the Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour or the Luxilon Big Banger?

Thank you.

Eric

as you yulitle said.. these threads should be banned :) . a "better" string is no such thing. YOU have to play with it yourself and play around with tensions, you may not even like these two strings, i could say "fencing" wire is BETTER .. maybe try that ? its really down to you to decide.

Who hits with the same string for a month? I restring my racquets after 10-15 hours of play (3-4 hitting sessions/matches).

As Downey stated, "you need to play with it yourself and play with the tensions...", you may decide you don't like either. You may decide on a hybrid.

Yes, there is no "better string", everyone is gifted with different touch and feel.

I happen to think both those strings are better in hybrid setups with Gut in the mains for optimum response. The cross with either one of those will give back some power and spin potential.

If I buy one string and string it, then I won't be able to change it after 1 month, unless of course the string breaks. So I need a good one, so that it won't be a waste.

I don't have the luxury to change string after 3-4 hitting session cause my budget is very tight and that's why I need a durable one. :)

Is Babolat VS Natural ThermoGut and Babolat XCel Premium string good and doesn't lost its tension fast?

Those are two completely different animals. XCel is a multifilament. VS is natural gut. Natural gut is pretty much the best thing out there. Natural Gut loses very little tension too. Plays until it breaks.

The Babolat is better for Nadal, Luxilon better for Fed. Go figure.

Haha, I think I'll go for PHT since Nadal is curently playing better than Fed, but seriously I'll go for PHT since it is better for spin. I will probably need time getting used to the string :-? since I seldom use topspin shots and more to flatter strokes but nevertheless I think I'll be fine hitting flat strokes with PHT :)

more like 6 months plus...one guy i know has a prince beast with the original prestrung nylon in it... i took it from him for 20 minutes, and snapped it, and then gave him a free PSGD string job, and told him never do that again.
but going back to these two..if you're trying to keep tension for a month, neither of these string is good for it, the PHT is terrible for holding tension, and the Luxilon, while amazing for a few hours, goes dead nearly as fast.

but if i had to choose between the two, i'd say luxilonbut dont use BBO, because the newer ALU Power string series is much softer and, IMHO, better. but to each his own.

but if you're trying to find a soft polyester, i liked Timo alot (Luxilon).but unless you chew through synthetic gut, i dont recommend polyester. if you can make it last, a synthetic gut job is much better. at least around the 1 month mark.

unless you are a fast swinger, you wont notice much difference between the two. and if you hit flat, i dont think you need the poly much anyway.

but what level player are you? we need a little bit more info. i use polyester in hybrids, but i dont need to since i dont break string that much

how fast do you break synthetic gut?

Maybe a month. I use prince syn gut duraflex. Is there any better syn gut out there? I'm planning to try Head RIP control though :)

While many posters are correct in saying it's all down to your own preference you were pretty specific about your requirements.

If you want a string with good tension maintenance the PHT is going to be a complete and utter waste of money. The number of hours play you will get from it is firmly in the double digits.

Please trust me on this and save yourself some money!

Alright then :) I guess I have to stick with prince synthetic gut. Always want to try PHT though. But anyway is Multi-filament string good in terms of durability and tension maintenance?

Thanks.

rafa has a full contract with babolat and roger has a full contrat with wilson. and luxilon is wilson... probably you are going to say that roger uses VS....that's true but I think he gets it free...

If you want something durable, don't go fot Luxilon because it goes dead pretty quick... PHT is omre durable....

hey, do u think trying big hitter blue?? it's close to luxilon (don't play like luxilon, I know) but it's more durable because it desn't go dead so quickly.
