Wilson Aggressor 95sq.in. racket with PWS

I found a 95 sq.in. greenish-blue looking Wilson Aggressor 8.5 racket at my local thrift store for cheap. I'd say the beam width was 24-25mm top to bottom. I was wondering if people are looking to buy that racket online... and how much it's worth!? It doesn't have a grip size written on the butt cap!? It comes with a cheap-looking cover for the head. Also, there was another word following Wilson Aggressor, but I forgot what it was. I haven't seen that racket before, but it looked like it was a mid 90s model.

My friend plays with the Aggressor Mids, they're like cheaper PS 6.0 Mids, cheaper because of fiberglass used instead of kevlar.

Here are the specs for the Aggressor Mid:
Headsize - 85 sq. inch. / 548 sq. cm
Weight - 360g ( strung )
Balance - 31,5cm
Beam - 17mm
String Pattern - 16x18
Swingweight - 329
Stiffness - 64
Composition - 80% Graphite, 20% Fiberglass

Hope this helps a bit...

Do you have pics of it?
No, it was in the thrift store, I couldn't take a picture. I'll buy it only if anyone is interested in it. I searched online but couldn't find a picture of it too. I am missing the third word of the racket's name, and maybe that's why it's not turning up in the search engines. It was Wilson Aggressor and then another word.

Another word in the name? Heck my friends aggressors are just Wilson Aggressor Mid :)

I know it's the Mid version but if you want I can get some pics from my friend...

P.S.: Come to think of it... Wilson GRAPHITE Aggressor?

The 95 Aggressor was a cheap widebody frame sold at places like Target for $30 in the early 90's. Some guys on my hs tennis team played with one. If I recall correctly, the racquet had some heft to it and you could really hit some bombs with it. I'd get it from the thrift store if it was ten bucks or less and the grommets are in good shape.

I tried the 95 for 10 minute before string broke. I can't really give the opinion because of the string was so bad. But recall it felt too heavy than PS6.0 95

Is it a "High Beam Series" racquet?

I have it

I have such a racquet, but the full name is Wilson Graphite Aggressor 95. It is quite nice, much like the Pro Staff. It is a players racquet, with a lot of weight, head light, and a relatively smaller head.
I'm probably going to give it to my dad tho b/c i recently ordered a newer racquet

Yes, me too... I have a new one that came bundled with a few other racquets I purchased on fleabay... it's definitely a hefty racquet with some power from its 'High Beam'.

The best High Beam racquet Wilson produced was the Sting 95 HB. That racquet is sweet and weighs in at 12.5 oz or so.

I'll weigh the HB Aggressor 95, later. I believe it's also around 12.5 oz.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but Bud or SteveI, do you know of any bumper guards for the Wilson Graphite Matrix?

my advice mate is its in a thrift store
that thing must be really cheap
just buy the racket and sell it
you'll get more than what you paid for

Look to other Wilson 85's that sported top bumpers/headguards

Sorry to hijack this thread, but Bud or SteveI, do you know of any bumper guards for the Wilson Graphite Matrix?

The Wilson PS 85 top bumper may fit the Matrix.

In addition, there were a number of other Wilson frames, from that era, which shared the 85 sq. in. head size, and string pattern, beam width, etc.

A better question, for perhaps a new thread, may be...

Are the grommets/bumpers for any of the older Wilson 85 sq. in. racquets compatible with the 85 sq. in. Matrix. I believe the string patterns and beam widths are the same.

I sold a Wilson Ceramic 85, recently, that contained a bumper guard.

Wilson Graphite Aggressor 8.5 si . 95 sq inch head with PWS.

Bud,

Just picked a Wilson Graphite Aggressor 8.5 si . 95 sq inch head with PWS.

Weight is 11.9 oz (overgirp and dampener)
24 mm constant beam
8 points HL
16 x 18 Stringing Pattern
Tension Range 50-60
Grip Size 4 3/8
Other Technology Listed SPS (Superlight Power System)
Finish is matte... not glossy
Butt Cap Code NER.

I am guessing the SW to be about 320-325 and with a 8.5 si (Wilson RA) Flex must be about 60-62.

Still has the factory strings... about 9.0-9.5 condtion...looks like it was used once. Have to cut those out and install some real strings.

Any thoughts... insights... Gezz.. I hope some do not feel I am NOT THINKING for myself... :)

Anyway... give me your thoughts and insights when you have a free moment and anyone else that has played this frame. Heck.. I have seen some current frames not built this well.. I know this was a second level..big box store release.

Regards,
Steve

I keep one of these in my racquet bag... but I think it's heavier than 12.5oz... I'm guessing it easily over 13oz.

i played those in HS (mid-late 80's), great rackets. yep, from the same mold as the JKPS and the PS original. really dug the bass boat paint job!

Last night, I played with a graphite aggressor similar to what Stevel posted. I had to break out that racquet after the string in the Wilson sting broke...

The aggressor may be a low end racquet but wow it felt wonderfully flexible'

Wilson used si back in the day for stiffness index and then later changed to swing index.

For stiffness index, the higher the number the more flex.

I played with this one in my youth and still have one. Also played with the 6.0. I found the aggressor the better one of the two, because of the slightly lower flex. Tad more dwell time, tad softer, tad more 'touch'! Fabulous frame in those days.

Reviving this thread, here I am in October 2020 just back from the thrift store and I picked up a like new Wilson Graphite Aggressor 95 for $4.99!!!!!! Complete with the case I almost passed it over but then I opened it and it is a “real” racquet from the Pro Staff era, nice matte paint job with Nineties graphics. Got home and weighed it at around 12.5 ounces.

It was my first serious racket.
High beam, 25 mm frame thicknes.
Aggressor 4000, right?
Coolllllll, no, no 4000 written anywhere on the racquet. It says high beam series, and PWS, and seems to be a wide body version of a Pro Staff.

Hi guys. Anybody knows if Wilson Graphite Aggressor 8.5 si - 95 sq 16x18 grommets will fit Pro Staff classic 6.1? Thanks
definitely worth a try as they were made from the same mold. I was going to flip mine on the auction site, but I’m tempted to put it in my bag.

I played with the Agressor in high school, 1985/86. It was a cheaper but similar looking Original PS 85. My parents always refused to pay more than $100 for a racket, the Agressor was $85, the PS was $120 then.
