Do you guys wear wristbands while playing? If so, why and what brand do you use? Personally, I don't sweat so I save myself some money and play without them.

i only wear them during high school season, just to show some school spirit. but if i feel like it, ill bust some out during a usta match.

but they do help with keeping sweat under control.

I tried using them a couple of times but they get soaked in about 4-5 games and are heavy and uncomfortable unless fresh ones are put on. That would mean for me using about 4 per match if I only wear one on my off hand. I find them to be kind of worthless. I keep a towel at the back of the court and that works much better.

I use the nike pro wristbands (blue with white pinstripes for one of the wrists and plain white for the other wrist).

I don't use wristbands, because they feel awkward on my wrist, like a constraint. Rather be free, and swing free.

Not that I don't believe you, but won't you eventually die if you exercise hard and don't sweat? It would seem that your body would overheat?

I tend to use them when I'm playing hard. I don't stick with a particular brand. I have Nike, Wilson, and UA at the moment that are all in decent shape. I also bring a towel to wipe the sweat off of me.

I sweat, just not on my wrist/hand.

Most people don't wear them because their wrists sweat a lot. The wristband usually serves two functions. It keeps sweat that runs down the arm from getting to the handle, and it can be used to wipe sweat off your face and out of your eyes.

I dont think you really NEED wristbands but they are functional as the post above states. I also think they look cool. They are pretty cheap compared to all the other tennis gear so why not.

I use them for these 2 functions WildVolley describes here. More so to wipe the sweat off my face and eyes. It looks a little more civilized than lifting up my shirt to wipe my face (when I'm not near my towel).

Double-wides. No particular brand. Both wrists. One for wiping off my brow/face, the other to catch the sweat running down my arm to my racquet hand. Cycling through them is a must in the heat and humidity of San Antonio. Feels nicer NOT to wear them, but I have to in order to keep the grip from getting slippery.

i like them, but i dont like them during the day cuz i dont want a weird tan line in the middle of my hand

Haha, it happened to me when I went on vacation this summer and had to play during the day (I usually play at night when I'm home). I had tan lines on both arms and it did look weird.

Yeah, I didn't realize how much one needs sweatbands until I had to play in humidity. My racquet was almost slipping out of my hand when serving. :?

I use wristbands particularly on very hot and humid days during the high school season. I use the tourna brand wristband mostly because it's lighter than most wristbands and feels great.
I've heard people say wristbands can improve your game. When I heard that I was shocked cause I knew it was untrue. Wristbands are an accessory just like a hat on a sunny day. I only use them under those conditions. Consistency is the key to winning not how you dress lol.

2xncode ntour 95(both 4 1/4)(55 lbs each), aegnes perfect spin string, wilson nxt, Wilson Pro Soft Overgrips on top of a layer of tourna grip

Always wear a wristband on my playing wrist. On really humid days, I will put them on both wrists. My hands don't sweat much but I get a lot of sweat coming down my arms. If I don't use them, my grip gets very wet to where I can't hold onto the racquet. I don't use any special brands but I try to get ones that are thick and look like they will hold up for a while.

Yeah, I play w wrist bands, stricktly outta necessity. Started last year, because I sweat a lot, and hands would get really wet so racquet would slip, & overgrip didnt last so long. Wearing wristbands helps, is it uncomfortable? No. Playability? the same. I dont care how it looks, either good or bad, just use 'em for sweat reasons, and it does help.

i wear wristbands (even though mine are junky and don't give me superhuman strength or anything remotely all that cool) because i am a very sweaty man!

That’s why the pros wear wristbands as well, so the sweat doesn’t trickle down from the arm and on to the handle, where even the tackiest most absorbent overgrip can turn become too slippery in a very short period of time.

If you must know all my secrets. Along with the ability to hit the ball out long every time, my power bands give me...

reversing force ray, hypno force will power, destroyer ray, force ray, super power, destructo ray, pile driver ray, energy force, stun ray, heat force, megaton force, magna ray, heat ray, freeze ray, freeze force, heat intensifier ray, sonic vibro ray, whip ray, frost ray, freeze field, scatter ray, power rays, anti-matter ray, electro shock ray, battering ram ray, locking ray, hammer ray, megatron ray, energy ray, magnetic ray, laser beam, ice force field, force shield, force field, viso wall, super speed, hyperspeed, and the ability to create a time warp. These are combined powers from the power bands: heat and energy ray, force field and energy power, stun ray and force energy power, raising the power to 5 over 5.

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

^ This. I wear the Nike double wides, one on each side. Doesnt hinder my wrist movement at all. I actually like the feeling quite a lot. Feels like a little support there.

I'm going to start wearing a wristband now.
My hands get kind of sweaty and the racquets slips a little from my hand every so often.
I hate how my skin is a different color when I take off the wristband.
Just the sweat but it turns back after.

Anyone try the UA wrist bands? Supposedly they wick away the moisture and dry quickly. Thinking of giving them a try. Unfortunately, no wristbands for me the last 3+ months because I have had to wear a wrist support due to a nasty injury. Almost ready to lose the support and go back to the wristband.

I wear the UA's, they never seen to stay damp, and I sweat a lot. Give em a try.

I like a big Ivan Lendl-style sweatband on the right wrist; I wipe my brow with it. I need another wristband on the left for balance purposes.

just wear a headband. without a headband, within 15 minutes, my eyes get covered with dripping sweat and hair product! headband works great.

haha, I'm exactly the same way, I wear a Livestrong bracelet during my matches and get an awful tan line from that, only difference is, when I'm off the court, I can still wear the Livestrong bracelet over the tan line whereas wearing wrist bands off the court isn't my style

I wear them. I have almost freakishly large hands and im skinny so my wrists look really small so bands make them not nearly as noticble. Also i do sweat so they are definatly functional.
I wear the nike swoosh bandanas because they actually work a hell of a lot better than reg headbands. I would wear reg headbands and notice like a collection of sweat under the band when i took it off (sometimes it would get too hot under it and i would take it of during play). But with the expensive bandanas my forehead was actually really dry after playing and the bandana was really wet.
On the bands i use plain janes... but i wear nike dri fit shirts (they work actually very well) and nike swoosh bandanas. I will get some sweatbands by nike because it seems nike got the sweat removal thing down to an art.

Oh and i did mean that i sweat on the face, under eys.... brow is bad but thats where the bandannas play in.
Sweat becomes a nonfactor when i switched to the fancy nike stuff ive noticed.
Weird but true.
