Would this happen to be the stringing machine you guys are talking about? Looks awesome!

According to the article, it's called the Wilson Baiardo, and can raise, lower, and tilt to offer the stringer an excellent stringing position. Available to the public in early 2009.

Here is the article.

See the new Wilson Machine at the **** Site! Seems Roman was kind enough to give us a sneak peek at this new super machine. She looks like a stunner!

I can't wait to hear comments from the stringers!

Enjoy,

Albert

I thought it was one of those robots that strings rackets by itself. I heard this one Japanese company making a stringing robot that strings all the rackets for you if you just program which racket you are putting on the machine. It could put all the stringers out of business.:(

It's been discussed before. It would be difficult to put stringers out of business because there are many personal quirks that humans are required for and it would have to be cost effective, too. The latter would be difficult.

Time to get me a handicapped bathroom stall bar so I can presretch :)

Even though the machines can do it, players still want their strings to be hand stretched before stringing. There’s a pre-stretch pole on one side of the room that is actually a handicap bar (like you’d see in a bathroom stall) with overgrip around it.

I hand stretch my strings, and customers as well that ask for it.
I have never used the prestretch feature on my machine, as I feel that on the crosses, the tension may not totally relax back, do to friction against the mains, and the result will be a higher tension on those, and uneven.
So I stretch by hand,as it makes the job more consistant which I always try to do, and it makes installing the gut strings easier as well.

Like Jim, I have never used the prestretch on my machine (nor the knot tension). You have more control over the string when you do it by hand.
