Help: Prince Grip Size

I'm ordering a new Prince SP Tour, and I need help figuring out the grip size.

I'm not sure, but I believe I play with a 5/8.
On the racquet under the P it says 5.

I just needed to make sure that the 5 stood for 5/8 grip size. (would make sense to me)


Other question:
I currently play with a 5/8 grip, but have decided to use a smaller grip.
The only reason I use such a large grip is because I learned off of a larger racquet.
My coach recommended a 3/8 grip- saying that; if the grip size ends up being too small, I can always add more overgrip-etc.

I was thinking about going in the middle, and buying a 1/2 grip size.
Only problem is that- I've never played with a 1/2 grip size before...
but I have played with a 3/8.

I'm thinking I should just go ahead and get the 3/8 and overgrip more if necessary.

First off, I need to make sure that the 5 does stand for 5/8 grip.

yep L5= 4 5/8.

don't quite get your logic about not going for the L4 even though it's in between and you've never used it before. if you've played with a L5, you should be able to handle a L4 easy. getting a L3 size will tremendously reduce bevel feel if you need to add OG's to make it larger. (trust me, i had to play with a L2 SPT when my size was L3+)

you can always click on the links next to each racquet page about how to measure your grip size as well.

My coach has larger hands than I and uses a 3/8.
I figured if my hands are smaller, I should be able to deal with a 3/8 just fine.
It's the adjusting that I'm worried about most, I think that I may like my grip a bit on the larger size even though modern tennis players seem to find it unconventional.

I measured out to be around 3-4/8

did you ask your coach about his/her preference in grip sizes?

some may prefer larger, some right on with their size, and some smaller.

you don't need to base your grip size off of someone else's. that's really only useful in transitioning between brands (some brands may have different shapes, ie fischer, with it's square shapes)

He prefers larger grips.

I hold his preference highly mainly because he's taught me for a long time- and my game is very identical to his.

I think I may just go with the 1/2 grip size, that way if I do have to go to my old SP tour for backup- it won't be too much of a transition

Meh, I decided on 3/8
Called up my brother and he said there's these "shrink wrap grips" or something- which can add a whole 1/8
He said better smaller than sorry

true, true, but shrink wraps add weight. it's no problem with 11 oz sticks, but the SPT is already ~12 oz strung, and add a shrink wrap + an OG, you're looking at a stick heavier than the K90.

I use 5/8 but always, always get 1/2 so I can use an overgrip. Also, if you need to sell the racquet in the future, it is much easier to dispose of a 1/2 than a 5/8 because most players do not like that size.
