It seems Miami has sped up their courts. Much harder to break. They seem pretty close to the speed of the US Open. Just my observation based on this weeks action.

It's funny, actually, that Murray, out of the top 4 seeds, is the only one who's lost a set so far and he hasn't even played a seeded player yet!
Nadal's had 2 tough matches, and Djoko + Fed have cruised to the QF's.
But now's when the going gets tough, and every player left in the draw is pretty adept when it comes to Hard Courts so I don't think it'll favour anyone heavily, but players like Roddick, Tsonga, and maybe Verdasco will probably be more at ease with their power games. But otherwise, I do agree Miami is looking faster than IW, even though it's hotter and more humid in Miami (maybe that's why they sped up the courts?).

I've gotten the impression that they are fast also, interestingly enough I haven't noticed a high ace count on any of the players with big serves, players do seem to be holding serve with relative ease from the matches I've seen and Lopez was playing well usually a sign of faster courts

I would have thought that humidity would have made it slower. I'm not sure if they're faster. On another note, just ignore EtePras and Fedfan. They're new, come in here and want to quickly jump on the bandwagon. to gain recognition or have the right to post insulting posts. Your posts of late Nadal_Freak have been fine and those who have the good manners to read posts in their entirety before judging judging on something they've read in the past, now they are the posts that are worth responding to.

Sorry to say but it looks like your public enemy #1 to Fed fans so any thread started by you would garner their attention. To your thread i believe courts do seem a bit faster but that confuses me that their have not been a high rate of aces from the regular big servers, perhaps the defences of every player has changed to adjust the high rate of aces :S

For once I agree with you, your post was perfectly fine IMO.
There was a post last week discussing the speeds of the Miami courts versus Indian Wells. While it does seem the courts are playing somewhat faster, meaning the ball is skipping through the court more, I think the heavier, more humid air counteracts that effect to a degree. It's really the exact opposite at Indian Wells, where the ball flies through the air more easily because of the thin, dry desert air, but the surface is notoriously very slow and high bouncing. It's difficult to tell how these things affect different players, but I will agree that the big serving, flatter hitters seem to be a bit more comfortable in Miami despite the heavier conditions. I remember Sampras talking about how he often had a tough time getting comfortable at Indian Wells because the balls would fly in the thin air. Federer mentioned something to the same effect in a post-match interview the other night.

Courts don't seem that fast IMO. As soon as the ball bounces, it doesn't skid out farther like a really fast court such as at the US Open should. It seems to slow down a hell lot more.

It doesn't jump up either. It just sits there. Humidity will do that. I think conditions like this favor the flat ball hitters. Defensive players find it tougher to defend when their shots sit up nicely for the other player rather then jumping rapidly at them.

Yeah Nadal forgot how to slice in this match. A sign his game was off. Not just the conditions though Nadal was sweating a lot.

Nadal was crazily fatigued. He remined me of the Nadal of two years ago who would just get everything back.
Unlike usual he was dictating play and considering what he has accomplished this year alone he defaintly needs/deserves a rest.
