hope they get the guy who did this.

i would think his friends standing with him would have done a little more than provide a "vague description"

talked to one of his coaches last night and he said that the family is pretty torn up , it sucks i would sometimes have jake hit a few forehands so my son could study his stroke ,just a real nice kid. But they said his condition looks like he will fully recover but only time will have the final say so .

Someone has got to step up and call police. Sure enough the puncher's buddies must have told plenty of friends what happened. Has to be a matter of time until he gets turned in.

What an act of total cowardice.

Since the puncher left in a party bus after the concert, logic would be that he was pretty "amped" up and there are quite a few people out there that know who, what, where, and why. I would guess given the scope of this, that this individual is "getting their ducks" in a row so to speak. I would think they will turn themselves in fairly soon.

ive never understood cold-cocking someone, i knew guys that did it and i always thought it was a sign of weakness, was blindsided a couple of times it really hurts if you don't go out . But this is the end results of some guy who doesnt have the manhood and is probably boasting away , more then likely it could be tried as an attempted murder, then the guys inside will be boasting about this new queen!

I hear you Brad. Truly a totally senseless act that is going to change many lives.

Like tenniscrazed said, the puncher is most likely getting things in order...daddy's lawyer, etc. to turn himself in. Lets hope they get him soon.

Oh, I just saw crazed post that they know who it is. Thats great news.

A friend was cold-cocked walking out of a bar. Guy was laying in wait for him. Never found out who did this. Seen guys get punched in bathrooms, outside bars, leaving stores.

wow, they have the kid who threw the sucker punch,he looked like a OK kid too, going to a Christian college on a football scholarship and now both lives are ruin.. just a bad incident... just like that 23 year old who drank and drive and killed the Angel's pitcher and others,so many lives ruin from a bad choice for that one small moment... terrible ...

that's why it's better to know that your kid is on the tennis court or on a golf course all day and spending daddy's money doing it,better than getting wild and crazy and having a lifetime to regret it,in prison ...

Yes, he sure seems like a regular kid, going to play ball next year at a small college. Just one second and one horrible decision at age 18, probably after a few beers, is going to do so much damage to so many lives.

I would donate, via PayPal, to increase that $10,000 reward.

Somehow, they have to keep the search newsworthy until the creep is caught

There is an arrest warrant out for him. I think his parents are getting the lawyers, and affairs in order, and praying like hell this doesn't turn into a homocide case. In the end, he will likely turn himself in by Monday. It's not like an 18 year old can really go far. Like Forrest Gump said "stupid is that stupid does"

I was thinking he was getting lawyers, but it has been 2 days since he was named as the suspect, a long time for a family who would want to turn him in and show remorse. His eventual sentence will reflect all his actions after the fact.

After 2 days, you now wonder if his family is helping him hide, go into Mexico or somewhere else. Donte Stallworth did a horrid thing, but immediately stopped, called police, said he hit him and also allowed alcohol testing. Actions after the crime can go a long way towards showing remorse and responsibility.

I can't imagine a judge will take kindly to this long delay.

I agree that a few days is a bit of a long time. However, if you know lawyers, like I know lawyers. They are trying to formulate a defense strategy in which case they are likely trying to get all the known and potentially unknown facts to try to prepare a defense. My guess (purely hypothetical), is that they are preparing a "self defense" strategy. Maybe even that he was provoked by Jake at or after the concert. Also remember at this time the police can't speak to the victim only the victims friends.

If this kid and / or his family skip. Now there is an even bigger issue in that he would be considered a fugitive. I don't think an 18 year old involved in a "bar fight" if you will wants to be a fugitive from justice. That's a whole new ball game.

Oh well, I guess we will all see how this one plays out.

Well tenniscrazed, he turned himself in and the lawyer wrote a letter saying it was self defense. Not what the other witnesses said at all.

Surprise, surprise, surprise. How did I know that was going to happen. Sadly, but people like that and their attorneys are so easy to read it's almost comical. Human nature is such that all zebras generally run the same pattern of stripes. The attorney and his client are just another pair of zebras.

Read the letter in the article. So typical of a defense attorney it's a joke.

I think that attorney's attitude may backfire. Once it is obvious he sucker punched Jake the puncher may end up in worse shape by trying to lie. I would have gone with the drunk 18 year old made a horrible mistake and is almost suicidal with remorse now.

Too hard to DISPROVE self defense. Remember the burden of proof is on the prosecutor. Also the jury is under the "beyond a shadow of doubt".

No it isn't. All it requires is a few reliable witnesses who will attest that the attack was unprovoked and some competent police. If that doesn't work then neither does your criminal justice system.

As his defense attorney he's ethically obligated to provide the best defense possible. Even if he/she feels otherwise.

Plus, its just the 1st press release from the attorney.

Michael Vick's attorney's 1st press release spoke about how they were going to prove his innocence, and they were looking forward to their day in court, and not to judge him before all the facts are known, etc etc etc, blah blah blah.

A month later they were announcing the plea bargain.

The kid has no honor. If it were truly self defense, he would not have waited a week turn himself in when it was widely reported the next day after the incident. Only after the police figure out who it is, he turns himself in with his lawyer.

BTW kid needs a new lawyer. The statement he released I don't think actually helped him any. Bringing up their size differences? A college football player vs a tennis player and he was scared?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but regardless of self defense or not, if you physically attack someone, you are still responsible for any secondary damage your inital act causes. If you tried to shoot someone breaking into your house in the middle of the night and you miss, you are responsible for any damage resulting from your bad aim. Either way, only a total idiot and an equally inept lawyer would have this ******bag admit that he instigated the action which resulted in a near homicide. If he doesn't pay in criminal court, I'm sure, he and his family will pay in the inevitable Civil case.

Not to mention that logically a football player isn't going to run from a fight & go jump on a fun-bus. Normally they'd gather all their football buddies to "join in" on the "fight."

I wonder how well he's received by his football buddies now that he's admitted he was defending himself from a tennis player?
