AG300 ($79) or 4D AG300 ($179)

Looks like TW has a great deal on the AG300. Does anyone think it's worth the difference to go for 4D technology? I haven't tried the 4D, so without trying I voted "stick with the $79 model".

I love the whole "4D technology" thing...awesome! It almost makes it sound like the racquet exists in four dimensions. Maybe it enables you to hit balls like you're in the Matrix?

What makes me laugh at these people who talk about racquet "technology" is the fact that the ProStaff 6.0 85, the single most desired racquet on the planet, has absolutely no "technology" other than graphite/kevlar and POSSIBLY the PWS perimeter weighting system (which may or may not be a gimmick). No lightning-in-a-bottle, no alien DNA, no snake oil.

Not having a go at you, neverstopplaying....just having a go at anyone who would think that this 4D technology actually is worth paying $100 more. I can only see paying the $179 if someone genuinely thinks the racquet is intrinsically better, and worth paying $100 more for that perceived increase in desirability.

Wow!!! $79- If I hadn't just purchased a pair of Youtek Rads I'd be all over that- still might for that price.

4D is so much better than AG300 not because of 4D or anything like that but because of different mold, different layup, different drilling...
I would not buy AG300 for $7.9. It is that bad. They share only model number and that is about it. 4D is great.

i have demoed both and loves the 4D. the aerogel 300 is such a waste of a racquet...i had the hotmelt 300g and loved it so i thought the aerogel 300 would be an upgrade..>WRONG<...but after trying out the 4D 300, it was like an old friend..hits great!!!

but of course, you will have to demo it for yourself to see which fits you better...those experience is just my experience

I voted the $79 option.

But....I just bought 3 AG300Tours.

I think this is the definition of "conflicted".

I also noticed the price difference and was wowed by it. IME, I haven't found $100/frame difference in lineage, but I could be wrong.

AG300 is a great racket but in my opinion the 4D300 is tons better.

I consider rackets to be long term investments though. You could end up liking the AG300 better so just demo both and see which you like most and then invest in that.

IMO, the aerogel 100 is flawless. It's the single best racquet I've hit with, and I've played with dunlop literally my entire life; the last time I didn't own a dunlop was before I started playing 10 years ago. It doesn't play like it's 90sq in at all. Try out the AG200 as well, I played with it and it plays more like a 98 than a 95, and the AG100 plays more like a 93-95, but still has the nice control of a small headsize.

I voted the 4D. Having used the HM 300g and the M-Fill 300g I wasn't blown away by the AG tech, (though my brother splashed out on 2 x AG200g), having read all good things about the 4D you have to think consensus of opin ion is saying something (esp given the differences of opinion often seen here). However that gap of $100US looms large particularly when seen in terms of other currencies (eg. AUD). From my view they tweaked the specs right for this latest incarnation. Hey, and the pj is pretty spectacular! Anyway there's always been big following on these boards for AG300 appreciation societ and the M-Fill300g before that. If you can find the earlier thread you will see that it attained vcult following too. The HM300g before that not so much so because it was a far lighter thing (mine has lead all over it).

I'm not nec a sucker for latest tech, but do have a view that we're all NOT playing with Pro Staffs for a reason...

is areogel 100 closer to any racket on the market?
is it like ps 85? k61?because im very curious to buy it so i want to research it up and stuff...or any other racket from dunlop is better than areo 100?

Here's my vote:

1. AG300 16x19
2. AG300 16x18
3. AG300 4D 16x19

I recently bought the 4D but for $79 purchased my 6th AG300. All 3 racquets are unique yet very close in SW. All 3 are very customizable. The best frames on the planet for their weight class.

Very well said. The 100, 200s (especially the 16X19) and 300s really do play much bigger than their actual headsizes -- more so than any other line of racquets I've known.

I suspect it's Dunlop's use of Aerogel, but I don't know for sure...
