Teletubbies Question

What is the purpose of the large pin-wheel and what does it represent?

This show still doesn't make much sense to me but my two year old sure likes it.

I thought it was supposed to represent the futility of life and promote subservient children. Maybe I'm wrong. Interesting take.

I think it's pretty much nothing more than eye-candy, much like that giggling idiot kid-as-the-sun.

dedan-LOVE the South Park/Teletubbies joke. I think the show is for babies under age 4.

3 yr olds aren't babies, and it's ****ing obvious it's a show targeted at preschoolers, when it was big in the UK it was on at a time when anyone older than 4 was at school.

I think this is a healthy reaction. Anyone not even slightly creeped out might want to get checked out. Circus clowns get my skin crawling.

When that pin-wheel starts spinning there is definitely a change in the teletubbies attitude. "Uh-oh, stuff's about to get serious!". But it never really does. Still, it's there, looming on the horizon and even when not in sight, I can still sense its presence. I think I'm being hypnotized and I don't appreciate it. I'm just trying to keep my two year old entertained, for heaven's sake.

Actually, it's a show targeted at small children and stoners. When my daughter dressed up as Po for Halloween, some of the teenagers we passed on the street were really digging it. "It's po! Po!" Friggin' potheads.

That said, I have the sense of humor and outlook of a stoner myself in many ways despite being a non-smoker, so I loved what I saw of that show too... I'm sorry my daughter grew out of it.

Enjoy the great Teletubbies while you can. Someday your kid will be too old for it and will be watching crap.

Maybe they thought they saw the po-po and were worried they would bogart their stash.

Anything's possible with those dang longhairs.

Thing is, if I were now to see some kid dressed up as my daughter was, I'd be also going "It's Po! Po!!"

I guess I really miss the Teletubbies...

Just in case anyone had a deep introspective moment when I posted my thoughts, I was being sarcastic. It was to point out the fail of the OP for thinking that a children's show has symbolism when really it just attracts the children ("ooooh, shiny spinny thing!")
