Will K90's Become Collectable?

I was having a think about this earlier. K90's are forever going to be remembered as the racquet that Fed used to win the largest proportion of his slams. It will most likely be remembered in the same was as the PS85 is for Sampras, and look at how collectable they are.

So what do you think? Even the N90's are already rare, the K90's are discontinued already etc...

Most definitely, they are a classic PJ, and won so many titles...I'm sad to see Fed part with it and quite honestly, I think if Mirka asked Fed if he liked the BLX PJ hed say no.

But if Pam Shriver asks him hes all over the BLX and Lourves it.

I'd say exactly the same if I was getting the money he is from Wilson!

For a few million dollars, that paint job would look a WHOLE lot better.

But hey, fed will win 1 or 2 GS's with it this year, and suddenly everyone will love it!

Im sticking with my K90's though.

Whoa you play with both the K90 and the APDC. Isn't that destructive to your game?

Collectable, sure. But don't expect them to be worth much unless you have one that was used by Federer. Wilson sold a ton of K90's. I'd expect it to be as valuable as Pro Staff Classic 6.1 is today rather than a PS85 (much less a St Vincent).

I doubt it. If the K90 was considered a "great racquet" then maybe. But none of the 90" racquets seem to be able to compete with the legendary PS 85. Until then, I don't see it.

I train and play competitively with my APDC's, I use my K90's for fun and games, I enjoy playing with them, maybe play a few internal league matches with them, but I wouldn't train hard or play proper competitive tennis with them. The APDC is my racquet, the K90's are a bit of fun really...

Would the PS85 be as legendary if it wasn't Sampras' racquet? I doubt it, and if Sampras' Racquet can become that legendary, then theres no reason to believe Federers wont become as, if not more so.

Well Sampras used it throughout his whole career, and it would still be legendary if Pete did not use it, see Edberg, Courier, Chris Evert, young Federer, Kricksteen and many others, not too many on tour use the K90 ...

The PS85 was around and used by Pro's for 20 years!

K90 only used for 3, so there really isn't much comparison

True...

Yet the K90 will be "the racquet which Fed to win a GS without losing a set, his first FO and his 15 GS title" so it will a sort of collectable racquet, even if not even as valuable as the PS85.

I think that the original Pro Staff Tour 90 will become a classic.

100% guaranteed. Fed. would never play with a crappy K90. The K90 feel, materials etc. are horrible compared to the 6.0.

People love to say feds not using a K90 but fact is, all the evidence supports it. His stringers say its a close to stock K90 etc. Wilson designed the K90 with Fed to Feds specifications. People say he would be using a seperate mould for his design, but the thing is, the K90 IS his design, its what he wanted in a racquet. The K90 feel, materials etc are definatley NOT horrible compared to the 6.0, its one of the most solid feeling and playing racquets on the market. I forgot the link, but theres a site of a guy that got his hands on Feds racquet supporting all of this.

As a nice player's stick yes, as a collectible NO!

It's not like they have decent QC like the PS St. Vincent, basically they're churned out in the thousands n these buggers r going to be around for a long time to come.

In my opinion, the K90 sucks. It's a rubberized (feels like plastic/rubber), crappy, poorly balanced racquet. If you love it, that's great. It feels nothing like the 6.0 85. If it did, I would burn the 4 6.0s I have.

Collectible at your heart, may be. But there are just way too many fake K90 out there and in a few years time, people who has no first hand experience with the real K90 will be less likely to be able to tell. I also did a thread on the K90 rush before they are gone forever and somebody mentioned Fed got more titles with the N90 actually.

Look at the N90 today. Hard to find? yes. Fetching a premium, not really.

I think the PS85 SV was so collectible because it has an interesting history and Pete did use the same racket not some pj.

But I think I am going to get a K90 for keepsake. My main stick is the APDC.

10 years from now, it will be a collectible.

We'll all watch this thread progress into the year 2020 and you will see the prophecy came true as the wanted forum for K90s will see prices in the 200 dolla range. The K90 wil never have the legendary PS85 aura but it will have a greater aura than the PS90 10 years from now.

yes i did! that guy said it cost $3500 because some guy in china offered him that for a previous chronology set. Thats $700 for each racquet!!!!!!! the lowest price that seller will even consider would be $1800-$2000 range...:-?

That's just legend. The printed specs on the throats of Chicagos and SVs show a spec window of 11.6-12.3 ounces and 1.0-1.5 inches headlight unstrung. SVs were made for almost 8 years.....with the primer showing, pits in the molding....

As for collectible k90s? Only time will tell and we'll have to see how much Federer worshipers will be willing to pay. And with all collectibles, condition will be a factor.

Just like SVs. There are a lot of them around, but how many "as new" frames do you come across?
