Of a Federer or Djokovic fan complaining about the fact that the second semifinal is on Friday and itll give the winner of that semifinal a day less of rest?

I really think its very unlucky, and it might be so unlucky, it cant be just coincidence. Im thinking conspiracy from the British Secret Service. I think 007 is trying to make Andy Murray win the title.

(Sarcastic mode off)
Well, it had to be said.. not because I care, but just to have something to refer to if Federer is in the bottom half of the draw next year.

Trust me, if 007 wanted Murray to win, they'd make sure it happened including the tournament happening to coincide with "unfortunate accidents" involving top seeds.

We had this situation last year with Nadal lets not jog peoples memories about that

Thats what I was referring to. People complain about Nadals draw all the time, and how Federer has it easy, but when Federer has to deal with the same factor, its suddenly no problem.

LMAO, I remember last year people were throwing fits! It was a revolt. "How does Nadal get screwed so often, blah, blah, blah? Had to point out that the same thing happened to Federer in 2005 when he played Safin except Federer just didn't make it through that time. Then there was no retort at all.

ah but then what fun would TW be, if things like that didn't happen?

It's a conspiracy! Federer gets to sit on the massage table while Tsonga and Djokovic are killing each other!

What kind of scheduling crap is this?!111

I think its usually the top half that plays second in Australia? That means a day less rest.

Well usually the person with the second semifinal ends up winning the tournament, right? Was it not last year that Nadal played the second semi as the #1 seed? He ended up winning. And all those years Federer was #1 he racked up a bunch of Aussie Open titles. I don't see what the problem is really.

This gives the most evenly allocated amount of rest though. If they played both semi finals on Thursday it means that Tsonga and Fed have only had a day rest since their quarter final match. It would be a sluggish and tiresome match no doubt.

This way Cilic/Murray get 2 nights rest but at least Fed/Tsonga get 1 night rest before the final instead of no nights rest before the semi.

I think it's pretty fair.

It could be worse, it could be the US Open where you don't even get a day of rest before the final and the second semi-final can go late into the afternoon/early evening

No, it's not fixed and varies from year to year, not sure how they decide it. I think players' requests come into it, as well as where Lleyton Hewitt is in the draw, since they like to get him in a Saturday night match (at least in the last decade or so).

2004: winner Federer, played second semi
2005: winner Safin, played first semi
2006: winner Federer, played second semi
2007: winner Federer, played first semi
2008: winner Djokovic, played second semi
2009: winner Nadal, played second semi
