I think you've answered your own question by posting the image.

Verdasco always has pads at 6 o'clock, but they are usually black.

I don't think you can purchase tennis "Power Pads" they are just little snips of leather.

The best place I can think to get them are baseball glove replacement "string" the string is leather, just cut it into small parts and slide it in just before you pull the main.

Whenever someone asks me if I can place powerpads in their racquets (our proshop does not carry them) I just use some old grip, roll it into a tight circle then use them.

Power Pads used to be available for purchase--I don't know if they still are but I'd wager you can still find them somewhere. I used to use them all the time and bought them in bulk--there were a few different brands but the ones I used were little round pieces of leather that had adhesive backing. I bet I still have some laying around somewhere in one of my houses. I'd put them in the throat and sometimes on the first grommet outside the frame at the shoulder when I used full gut lay-ups. For those who aren't aware Power Pads do not add power or dampen vibration. Their purpose is to lessen the severe angle the strings pass through the grommets--nothing more. When gut was used most of the time Power Pads were very common--these days not so much. These days racquets, at least the HEAD racquets I use, come with rounded grommets at the throat making power pads unnecessary. I don't use them anymore even though I use gut/poly hybrids.

anyone know where i can get them?

Grand Slam Stringers still sells them. They are available both as strips, and in adhesive backed versions. Using grips or other similar leather also works fine. As stated above, though, their purpose is to reduce the angle of bending for strings...they are not intended to have any significant performance effects. In some cases, they are also used because the throat grommets are no longer available for an older racquet model.

There really isn't any "best of it". If they keep the string from kinking, then they are doing their job. Many pros use ones made by their stringer, and the pre-made ones are no more professional than any other pieces of leather or other material.

When is he going to use a Dunlop?

Maybe never. Although he may end up liking something they make for him, his current frame (Major) is close enough to several current Dunlop frames in shape to make a pretty convincing paint job if needed. That may have been a factor in his going with Dunlop...

^^He should be using a paint job by now surely? And what's even more surprsing is that he doesn't even have a Dunlop stencil.
