PS3 or XBOX 360???

I am currently a happy PS3 owner (who converted from a xbox360 originally) who is considering a switch. I bought my PS3 about 2 years ago simply for the blu-ray player (which to date I have watched exactly 1 blu-ray movie) and for the built-in wi-fi. With the release of the new Xbox 360 I'm now considering a switch back as the new 360s have built in wi-fi and a built in 250GB hard drive.

PS3's network has always been 2nd to XBOX Live from what I hear as I only began playing games online with my PS3 so I've never tried Live. Is Live really that much better?

Is it worth it???

In my opinion it's totally worth it.

I don't know what i'd do if i I didn't get my daily fix of beating Canadian kids at NHL 10 on xbox live! :)

The new 360 does look sweet! Just something about having a blu-ray player though....even though I never use it. I do miss the splinter cell games though. Such a tough descision.....

Do you have to have one or the other?

I bought a PS3 for Blu-Ray and since it had built-in WiFi (a must for Blu-Ray players). I also play a few PS3 exclusive games on it, but I don't play online.

I also have an Xbox360 that I play online games with, since it has a much better online gaming community (bratty, racist 9 year-old kids excluded).

I also have a Wii, which is fun to play, but even more fun when you are drunk.

I love MLB 10 The show for PS3 so that is what I'm gonna miss. The wifi was also a big part of my switch but since the 360 has it now its a wash. I think I'm making the switch....

We do have a wii that my wife plays but I don't play that much at all.

I would say PS3 all day, but the new 360 looks as good and I think i prefer game play on XBOX. Like the PS3 for the online and ease of storing movies etc

Yeah, the games are pretty much the same on each console, the games that i'm interested in anyway. For me it came down to my preference for a brilliant online experience over a blu-ray player.

why not just get a new xbox 360 and keep the ps3?

you have to remember, xbox live costs money. and it doesn't sound like you play online too much anyways.

I can't afford both (plus my brother offered me $250 for my PS3) and I would actually be more inclined to play online since I have more friends playing on Live anyway. Live is only like $50 for a 1 year membership which is pretty reasonable IMO.

Thats the only reason why you want to make the switch to the 360 is because of the new xbox model, thats alright, I'm thinking about updating my 4 year old 360 for the new model. I like the idea that it has built in wifi and larger vents to prevent the red rings of death.

I went through 2 xbox 360s from the red rings of death, the third one I've had for over a year without any problems. The new slim 360 has a larger fan and larger vents for heat dissipation.

The new xbox 360 is supposed to have more ventilation and help it run cooler than the previous ones. I do have to say I also went through 3 of them which was also part of why I went to PS3. I had forgotten about that little detail... no I am re-thinking again.

You can't afford both? PS3 online is free, so you technically wouldn't be spending any more money if you kept the PS3 and got an Xbox and paid the $50/month for Live.

Unless you mean, you can't afford an Xbox360 without selling your PS3.

Correct- can't afford a 360 without selling the PS3. I wish I had an extra $300 laying around :)

Just so's you know, yes xbox live is amazing, if you get a 360 make sure you either get the newest model or the Elite version because my brother has had all kinds of problems with older ones

but you can afford $50 a year? I think it's better to just save up extra money and keep both.

Since new hardware usually means there will be new bugs and you can see if the RROD is really fixed with the new xbox.

My ps3 broke after 5 months of purchase. Still on my first xbox 2 months after its release.

I bought an arcade from a friend, but havent had to use it yet, I thought my original 360 would have bricked by now lol.

Microsoft not only acknowledged the problems they had with the 360s but they also changed the warranty from 90 days to 3 years which is actually better than Sony's warranty now.

Part of the issue is that people keep them inside of TV stands/ cabinets where there is little to no ventilation and they just get too hot for that. I think by now people have gotten smarter about it and most of the issues people have with the 360s are from people not being smart with them.

I was on the fence, basically torn between the current gen (six months ago) 360 and PS3.

For me the free PS3 network, builtin wireless network adapter, and blu-ray player are what pushed it over the top. The exclusive games was a push for me becuase I really like some of the exclusives on both sides.

Now, the next gen 360 will have builtin wireless-N but still does not have a blu-ray player (I think MS has some sour grapes over the HDDVD vs Blu-Ray battle).

Once PS3 network is no longer free (some point in the future), it will be a much closer decision.

I'd recommend xbox 360. It just seems more user friendly. and there's that new project Natal thing coming out in the fall and if that's any good you'll want the xbox.

I was the same way when I bought my PS3- wireless and blu-ray had me won but to date I have watched all of one blu-ray movie and with the 360 being wireless its a much closer battle. They have been talking about the PS3 network bacoming a paid one like Live for sometime but I doubt it will happen. I actually think its in their best interest not make it paid.
