I dunno about you, but after back to back Toronto and Cincinnati Masters, I need to see some more tennis, and simply can't wait for USO. So I made this thread so that people can post recent updates on players, the USO, and other tennis news.

I can't wait either. Should be great, I need to schedule my sleeping for the time difference!

So much riding on this slam.....

Will Murray be able to finally win a slam?
Is Federer really declining or can he dominate again?
Can Nadal win on Fast Hard court & complete career slam?
Can Berdych/Soderling break through?

It's the most finely poised, open, major in a long time. Plus it's the US Open, which means Flushing Meadows and night matches. And as we all know night time matches are least 4x better than day time matches. What's not to love?

yep yep. we didnt get to see nadal because my group had to leave to make room for the others, but we got to see li na and azarenka.. and i got to hit with azarenka :D

no if you have the chance you should really go to it. its great stuff.

This is my favorite slam. Along with AO it always produces a lot of great matches and so many players have a chance there. The NYC atmosphere is electric and the crowd is usually great and loud. Love that.

Can Djokovic finally prove hes rightfully belongs in the top 3?
Will Davydenko finally be able to reach a slam final?

NYC is great but the USO surface and the saturday semifinals suck. French Open and Wimbledon are the greatest majors. Also, I prefer AO over USO.

USO surface = best surface

saturday semis = epic

Try watching the year that the first semis went 5 (can't remember who played), narvitalova and evert three set final, and then connors mcenroe epic semifinal that went 5 sets. That is an epic day of tennis that no other major can compare too

yeah and the one sided finals because one guy is exhausted from the day before can't be compared either :-? tv stations run the USO and that's never good for the sport because they don't care about players' necessary rest.

also, the other 3 slams provide better rallies than USO

How's this for epic?

My first time to New York, staying in a hotel next to times square, and I have a package that gets me the day session from Tuesday to friday of the 2nd week, day and night session on saturday and Final on Sunday, the seat is behind the server too :D

Yes it made a hole in my wallet but it will be one hell of an experience, I purchased it all back in June, on the day ticket sales were made public.

The ticket plan only cost $600, which is a bargain to me.

I'm so pumped ! :)

Ill have to respectfully disagree and not because i am from the area. In my opinion the hardcourts really bring out the best of the athletes because the surface is so quick. You can argue the points are shorter but tennis is about hand eye,speed and agility and this is where these guys can showcase it the best. Also, while i love Austr open and Wimby they just dont generate the excitement that the US Open does. Although ive never been to Wimby or AOpen as soon as you step into the USOpen grounds you just feel the excitement and energy. Probably due to all the different types of people that attend and the intimate environment with the players on all the outer courts. It really is something to see and one of the best sports venues in the world imo. With that being said i would really love to go the Aopen and wimby in the near future.

Same here, although I'll be back in school so I won't be able to catch all the matches...Unless my moto droid finally gets flash and lets me watch livestreams. But yeah I can't wait, week 1 is my favorite of slams usually. Get to watch all the favorites play until they let me down. Gasquet, Gulbis, and friends...
