Sadly, no. I planned on going this year but didn't exactly have the right budget or time. Maybe next year.

I'm from Israel :)

wow P i had no clue. where in? i have a cousin in Haifa and my mum has some friends in Tel-Aviv.

I don't like the USO... I dislike fast courts (Ironic, given my dislike of Nadal, but I like clay and slow HC) and the crowds annoy me...

But, hey, it's a Slam

How's this for epic?

My first time to New York, staying in a hotel next to times square, and I have a package that gets me the day session from Tuesday to friday of the 2nd week, day and night session on saturday and Final on Sunday, the seat is behind the server too :D
Rather swish, sir :D

I do like the USO, it's exciting :D Plus, the time difference means that play often begins right after I've finished work. Unlike the AO which is unfortunately hellish to follow in Europe.

USO surface = best surface

saturday semis = epic

Try watching the year that the first semis went 5 (can't remember who played), narvitalova and evert three set final, and then connors mcenroe epic semifinal that went 5 sets. That is an epic day of tennis that no other major can compare too

If Nadal would have won 5 USOs instead of 5 FOs, USO would surely be Mun's favorite. At least I admit Wimbly is my least favorite slam regardless of the number of times Fed has won it.

I'm going the first day of the USO and I went today to Pilot Pen. Not quite the same but it eases the "pain" ......

I was there today too haha. I saw Korolev-Marchenko, Golubev-Gabishvili, Blake-Hinges, and De Bakker-Mayer. In the stadium I was in box 30

It is even worse to follow here in the States. I have to wake up at 3.30 AM to watch the night session.

Gah I hope they show some replays on ESPN 2 because the schedules are really bad for me, being in GMT+10 and having school. I have some half days though so maybe I will get to see some action. But damn, I can't wait. I hope I can just fall asleep for a few days.

Sleep is time travel, after all.

I dunno about you, but after back to back Toronto and Cincinnati Masters, I need to see some more tennis, and simply can't wait for USO. So I made this thread so that people can post recent updates on players, the USO, and other tennis news.

Time to get excited for the last major of the year.

I can't wait, I just wish school didn't interfere with it. :(

Gots to make my US Open bracket picks, and then play Sudden Death League, Prediction League and Power League :p

I LOVE the US Open!!! I've been three times in the past. Can't make it this year, but I did go to RG and W this year, so I can't really complain! LOL! The atmosphere, the surface, the night sessions, the energy coming over from The Big Apple. The US Open just ROCKS!!! It's my favorite surface now, because I love fast conditions, but W is still my favorite slam.

NYC is great but the USO surface and the saturday semifinals suck. French Open and Wimbledon are the greatest majors. Also, I prefer AO over USO.

Mun got banned...That's a shame. :(

i took vacation from work all of next week, i'll be watching day and night matches till my eyes bleed out
I tried that for the USO once, but was burnt out by the semis. (I live in India).

Have to preserve myself now for the last few days.

immmmmmm so excited!

i was supposed to go to the pilot pen tomorrow & saturday, but my friend from scotland is in town and doesn't care about tennis (not even murray, i know, it's crazy :shock:), so i gave my tix to my parents bc i promised i'd show him a good time around the city. which apparently doesn't include tennis matches. :sigh: but anyway, i was really looking forward to seeing baghdatis/de bakker but baggy is out so i'm not missing that much . . . maybe.

but i AM going to the USO on labor day all day! and maybe some other day, too, maybe the sfs i haven't decided yet. i wish i could go during the week but it's my last year of college and missing classes the week they start isn't the greatest way to kick off the semester. :(

Why? Because you are not sure you know who will make it to the finals?

It's not cheap and we could end up with a Istomin-Mun final. :-?

The possibility of a Bandy-man/Nadal QF definitely excites me.
This could be Fat Dave's year.

I think there is more of a likelihood of Nalbandian losing to Mayer in the 2nd round than making it to Nadal. Now if he does get there, I'd be delighted!! He is my favorite player to watch and I've been rooting for him ever since I first saw him play. Come to think of it, it was love at first sight :)

Is Shahar Peer playing ?

I believe she is. To be perfectly honest, I think Shahar is a pretty average tennis player who made the best of her potential. She doesn't have any real strength aside of good fighting spirit and a solid (but not more than that) BH.

he he, I try to peak for the final 3 rounds ( QFs, SFs and finals ) - don't watch too much of the earlier rounds :)

I'm going on Tuesday and I can't wait! Tickets are not that expensive to early rounds so I might even go to more night matches this week. SO EXCITED!!!
