"Are we talking about 5 slams here?"

These guys are better than BG.

Lol worthy material here.

The hype machine is up and running on full steam.

I switched to the WebCastOn stream since it seemed to be about 10-15 seconds ahead of Veetle which was being choppy for me too.
It almost cut out on match point too though :-? Came right eventually though

I am afraid they will jinx Milos too much gushing....

To heck with jinxing, I'm just tired of the same routine every time someone 20 or under puts on a good tournament and suddenly he's the next best thing since sliced bread.

DY, Harrison and Dimitrov are similar cases, except I'm not even sure if DY put on a good tournament performance in his career so far.

Don't think either of them:

- made it to the 4th round of a GS
- made it to the SF of an ATP tourney [EDIT: make that a FINAL :)]

but you can be as reserved as you want to be.

EDIT: I know this guy (Raonic) from seeing him in several junior tournaments here for 4 years, and I shook hands with him, still, I'm shocked with his progress during the last months, even if I remember his being close to beating Gonzalez here when Gonzo was #10, and that is two years ago. That, BTW, was a great night for Canadian tennis!

Let's not even go there, DY was way overhyped for many years by now and he's done yadda, you cannnot compare the cases, Milos just showed up on the radar screen and he already defeated 4-5 top 50 players in a matter of two months or so. I am as a canadian very giddy about his prospects, but I would like to see a little more cautious optimism from the specialists.

Let's see how he does at the next few slams.

Maybe I'll revive this thread in several months.

That's all I'll say on Raonic for now.

Raonic was very good from last year even. I first saw him in Toronto and he was showing great signs since then. Movement and the variation on serve (and perhaps those extra mph's were seeing now) were missing back then but the guy was clearly of quality.

Another good player similar to him is Kevin Anderson, who, even though is flying under the radar, has been climbing the rankings at a fast rate. These guys don't really have weaknesses, even though Anderson does show nerves and his groundstrokes tend to break at some point. For their height they're absolutely lightning fast.

Same as DelPo really.

This is the new breed of player. Better than Berdych and Soderling. This is 2.0

Big guys with weapons ANNNNND movement.

Watch out.

I hope your as wrong as can be. I would like to see someone new and young with an exciting game rise...at least he can get into the big master series now...this should be interesting.

Milos did pretty well last fall too - surprisingly so. He made Q and R16 in Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo. Did all this success coincide with his new Spanish coach? Whatever the reason is, it's terrific to see and great fun to cheer for him. :)

Nishikori won Delray Beach, and made the 4th round of the USO. Both when he was younger than Raonic is now.

Just sayin'.(Yes, I know you weren't talking about him specifically).

Raonic looks excellent. But I'm going to wait a few months before saying the hype is legitimate. This tournament has been a good sign.
